Can't we delist contracted players (lets say Lynch) and pay out their remaining salary, which counts towards whichever relevant season, to free up a list spot? There's shitloads of cap that has to be used, correct?

Am i making this up?

Be shocked if we successfully traded in 3 or 4 targets, but I'd be disappointed if we couldn't due to having a Lynch or suchlike on the list.

Considering the targets (other than Hill) that Saints are currently chasing, I'd think our 2nd (30) and one of our thirds (the Saints one, 41) would be pretty much on the mark. In draft points, it's "equivalent" to Pick 17, but more importantly it enables a number of other trades

Trying to think of other KPD possibilities other than Keath and Carlisle who are cheaper fall back options. Hartley been mentioned a lot. What about Garthwaite from Tigers, haven’t seen a lot of him but out of contract I believe and played 7 games this year. Three years development. Ben McKay also been mentioned. What other options are out there including state leagues? Roberts seems all but gone and losing Adams last year definitely could use some depth if we don’t get a best 22 type player.

He was cheap (a DFA in fact) and ended up being a premiership player and is now an excellent KPD for Freo.

So it's possible. But it doesn't happen often. Most will end up as list cloggers.

Look I liked Mitch Hahn, but Naughton in a moon boot would have beaten Hahn over any distance on Hahn's best day.

I remember Hahn being just about best I’m in the “lake lament” final v ST Kilda. Seems like the links to Keath have quietened down a lot in the last few weeks, which makes me think we may never have been that strongly into him. It seems that it's all guesswork until this point of the season when the real info starts to come out. Hence the Bruce links only just happening, while a ton of other players linked to clubs are suddenly not being spoken of (including Petrucelle)
