As much as the treloar contract could become a burden, we would end up paying the 6-700 to dunkers anyway. (assuming he leaves) You also dont know if we have the ability to front load rather than back end ect ect with our TPP being a bit different to the pies.

if treloar didnt want to buy in, fair enough. But the thought of losing a mid we have put 5 good years into from the draft and then starting again next year with a future first just seriously sets us back imo.

Dont think this would sit well with the top end players on our list who want to be contending in the next 2-3 years in their prime (Bont, Macrae, Libber, Wallis, Daniel) These guys deserve a team built around them thats going to bring success in the shorter term, or risk losing more out the door.

At the same time you risk his contract being too much and it impacting our next wave (smith, naught, english, JUH) p.s can you believe we will have all 4 of those in a team?!?

The only way id be satisfied is if I knew it wasnt going to put us in the same position as Collingwood are in now.

yea thought so

hope we dont leave the dunks trade to late then cant do as much as we want cause we run out of time

feel like we do need to be active like saints were last year
sometimes you achieve more by doing less. we could be about to win a flag with this list and we don’t know it

Was it this post? Do we actually think it was Andrew Dunkley 😂😂View attachment 1008353

200% that’s Andrew Dunkley

To be fair we all agree with him haha. Bont the ostrich is a new one haha. I don't see how going to bomber land and getting belted every week is going to be more fun for young Josh but each to their own

Yep I think he will expect to get it done for pick 8 and steak knives. I don't see us getting him to two first rounders from a starting point of pick 8. I think we are going to have to hold Dunkley if we want to leave this trade period with any dignity.

I think 2 firsts plus a solid 2nd going back their way might get it done. Which is why I had us splitting 14 and using one of the 2nd rounders to send back to Essendon.

I also hear what you’re saying Re us being left with first rounders this year scrag. Clearly we should flip one with the pies for a 2021 first.

But don’t underestimate how many points we need to match for JUH. That’s real, and it’s something we can’t avoid. Being left with a top 10 pick from the Dunkley trade that we can use to gather enough points for JUH, is still something of value.

I'm going to interpret this as a genuine admission of how much you value my approval rather than sarcasm.
You have given my posts the downward red thumb of disapproval more than most over the years and fair enough, so yes you should interpret this as a genuine admission of how much i value your approval.

It does pay to keep the sarcasm meter well serviced though as it is never far away. ;):moustache:

C4[2]Yo`DooR

There is a lot of talk of Treloar in here and media.

In addition to his obscene contract, are you able to elaborate on any concerns re Treloar? ie why are Collingwood being so mean to him?

Cheers

Rocking is a euphemism for smoking crack. Crack rocks > rocking.
Haha. Surely nobody is suggesting Josh Bruce is on crack! Although it would explain a few things.

I thought he just meant he was perhaps enjoying himself too much. Again, that would also fit.

Love this board. For weeks people complain that we aren’t targeting any big fish. Then find endless reasons why we shouldn't pull the trigger when we actually catch one at a major discount.

You realize that we are about to pick up a total gun during a fire sale right? Any of these other “big fish” you were salivating over would have cost us as much or more in cap space and WAY more in trade assets.

We should get Treloar done today and here’s why:

1.) Regardless of what’s being reported Collingwood will be paying a fair chunk of the salary. They have to. They’ve burnt that bridge and need him off the books desperately. Gives us all the leverage in a deal. We also have compatible draft needs with our high end Academy Kids 2020 and 2021.
2.) He is in an age bracket we are desperately lacking and by all accounts a real professional.
3) We still have Boyd money left in the cap, not to mention Dunkley salary that will already have been accounted for going forward. I have heard nothing that suggests that we have been irresponsible with our cap. I trust that we would only be considering Treloar if we were very comfortable with his salary.
4) Our midfield remains super slow and doesn’t kick a heap of goals. Treloar ticks both of those boxes. He can also crum, so will be an upgrade on our other resting miss up forward.
5) We are bound to cop more midfield injuries than this year and Libba is by no means a guarantee to stay on the track.
5) most importantly, I believe the club is happy to get Treloar and keep Dunks. With Treloar taken care of and no pressure to move Dunks on, Power will sit smug until Dodo offers overs. There is WAY more pressure on Dodo to bring Dunkley in than on us to move him on.

I think by tomorrow night we will be very impressed with our trade period.
