Tomlinson is Tim O’Brien all over again, everyone putting him in their teams & overrating him all preseason and no one seemed to remember he was flipping shithouse, couldn’t believe what I was reading I almost fooled myself into thinking maybe I was wrong, but nope still shit and hopefully never plays another game for us again.

Tomlinson is barely better tbh & will actually cost a draft pick and is on good money.

I’m actually getting a bit worried after seeing who we’re being linked too - I realllly hope Bevo doesn’t go all crazy Vossy and blow up this list which is brilliantly shaped for the future, but he needs to win next year or his gone so that will be his priority - even though the best play would be hit the draft & continue to build (unless we could bring in high quality players which we just cannot obviously)

This joint whinges to high heavens that our backline is poor and we have no depth, but want to bring in speculative VFL defenders, some of which have been ordinary at that level at best.

I thank lord almighty that none of you are involved in recruitment at the club.

I’ve not been a Tomlinson preacher in the past, but we’re kidding ourselves if we don’t believe he’s a massive upgrade on the available 3rd talls we have at the club in Cordy and O’Brien.

Tomlinson plays okay football as a third tall in the best defensive system in the league with great support from may and lever. He won’t have that at the dogs.

I would rather back in Gardner, Jones and either Darcy, keith (to get his body right) or khamis (slightly undersized) to become the third. Use Cordy and O’Brien as coverage and bring in another developing tall defender with one of our picks.

If Tomlinson came I certainly would not be comfortable paying his contract 2x 500 k a year or even smoothing that out over 3 years. I see him playing a lot of VFL football as I believe we have better options ahead of him.

I also don’t like the idea of helping Melbourne take that contract off the books.

This is poor business to me and I’m not often critical of the club when it comes list management.

We were all keen on him but we decided to take a now delisted vanilla mid called Matt Fuller a few picks before.

This board went into meltdown.

PS. Tom Barrass was the next pick after Fuller but these things happen. The Brown thing was far more obvious as we needed a FF and he was dominating in our VFL team Werribee at the time.

I think this is the play too. He can cover ground, is good overhead, and is a better kick than everyone who plays wing for us other than probably Williams. We can struggle for a good link up player (which puts pressure on Dale and Dunkley to constantly force the issue) so it may be a smart move - especially if we're moving on Hunter.

Every single ****ing time "Oh my god how could we miss out on Barlow when he was under our nose" when he didn't even ****ing join Werribee until we were gone. The only two that we truly ****ed up on were Podsiadly and Hudson.

Picking up late 20s players on the fringe of their current club is an interesting recruitment tactic. Footscray could be elite with TOB, Tomlinson and Lobb playing there on ~1.5million
