I don't want to be a wet blanket here but Doedee is from Geelong (or close enough) and you know what the pull of going 'home' to Geelong is like. It's a big pull and the pulling happens constantly 😉

So, even though we're just up the road, the fresh air or Corio or Norlane or something might pull him back to Geelong.
Or the possibility of fullfilling his childhood dream of becoming a cotton on farner

I'm not sure if English actually wants to leave but there is a realistic scenario in which West Coast make him the highest paid player in the game.

New CBA, $3million+ p/y coming off the books with Nic Nat, Gaff, McGovern, Darling in the next year or two. No young rucks coming through - paying English that much would be harder if they had someone better than Williams, who is basically useless. West Coast's identity from Cox through Naitanui has been by having strong rucks. And never mind that he could be worth the money, these other reasons aside - not unrealistic to assume in 5 years time he could be the best player in the league, full stop, if he keeps developing as a player.

English may want to stay but if West Coast offer you $10 million over 6 years or whatever, what are you mean to say?
If I was Tim English there is no way I'd go to WC simply because I'd have to sit on a plane every second week.even the exit row isn't gonna cut it

Selecting Marty Hore at 27 years of age would appear to be a stop gap or short term solution to a perceived need. On the other hand, his intercept marking stats are off the charts. If this is our priority position of need for the next few months, we could do a lot worse.

Is it that we prioritise versatility over what a player has been used to? Eg Naughton was a KPD when drafted and is now a 50 goal per year forward. Bailey Dale was a medium defender turned AA half back. Caleb Daniel a Dayne Zorko type mid/forward who turned AA defender etc etc.

It might not work for all players but seems to be something we do regularly and, on occasion, succeed with.
The difference is that with Naughton and Bailey
It wasn't a week to week change of role

Raak and Buku pretty much flip a coin before a game on which end they will play

Is that true? I thought Buku was playing clear majority in the forward line. I assumed the coaches had given up on him in the backline (I still like him there) and just have him as depth for a Naughton / JUH injury.

Liked Teal in the pre season draft and would happily take him. Need someone in the Doc mould. Like the sound of Hansen Jr too.

I’d also be fine with Hore. He was genuinely good when he got his run of games, just been absolutely decimated with injury since. If we’re confident in his body I think he’s a definite upgrade on Crozier/TOB and maybe Keath on current form

Is El Nour's name mentioned based on potential? I ask because his VFL stats are decidedly underwhelming.

Was a stand out last year for Northern Bullants. Essendon and Geelong were extremely interested in picking him up last mid-season but then got injured so got overlooked. Richmond then picked up him which shows they see potential in him. He is a great intercept marker, able to play that 3rd tall. Think being on an AFL list will just boost his development.

He is also good mates with Buku and Raak

HS saying Marty Hore is out MSD pick

Clearly bad news for TOB, Gards and Keath.

Bevo pursing other options until he finds someone that can play the intercept role.
As much as I like Hore can't help but feel disappointed if we don't get a wing/ small forward. Not a fan of obrien but would much rather replace him with cleary or buku. Have options for tall defenders aswell.

A bit of talk on SA radio today of crows heavily into Redman for 750-800k, they were pretty confident if that is the case then Doedee is gone next season.
Come Here Dr Evil GIF
