I don’t mind it either but let’s see if he can keep this kind of form upDont mind it. He’s had two really good weeks on the wing. Offers something we have bugger all of, pace.
It’s an awkward one, the club would probably be pretty annoyed he’s playing so well they probably had him penciled in as a 4th rounder.I don’t mind it either but let’s see if he can keep this kind of form up
Howard was a first round pick, so was Grant. He was a pick 9, so probably won’t be as cheap as you think.
Freo fans probably trying to work Naughton into the deal, the weird purple *s
Petrevski-Seton was pick 6 and was traded for pick 52 and showed more in his early days then Henry so far minus the last 2 weeksHe was a pick 9, so probably won’t be as cheap as you think.

His ball use though is something of a concern from what I saw yesterday!
Yeah Naughton was pick #9 in 2017 and Liam Henry was pick #9 in 2019 so a straight swap seems fair.He was a pick 9, so probably won’t be as cheap as you think.

This is the tradeYeah Naughton was pick #9 in 2017 and Liam Henry was pick #9 in 2019 so a straight swap seems fair.
Well perhaps we might have to offer up some steak knives because Henry is two years younger.
What about old Peter Bellend? The original tough guy in tradingHe was a pick 9, so probably won’t be as cheap as you think.

I don’t know. I haven’t seen Dunkley or Buku or heaven forbid Bont take a ruck contest this year when Chilli takes a break. He is good for a bit over a goal a game, and is one of the few who doesn’t give me kittens when lining up for a shot. You'd hope with Lobb, we chased him based on more than one game against us.
But your honour, as a precedent, I present, Tim O'Brien....
Lucky Bevo (and Sam P!) weren't around when Majak Daw had a day out, or some random small forward peaking their career against us in years gone by.
That's the rub for me - Freo would want a lot for a top 10 pick they invested 4 years into.Henry in his draft year looked amazing - quick, skilled, composed. Up to a few weeks ago, the only talent he'd demonstrated in 30-odd games at AFL level was running fast. The last few weeks he's shown major improvement in ability to win the ball and maintain composure with ball in hand (having had a tendency to s**t himself every time he got near the ball in the past), but his disposal still really concerns me. One play against us that really stood out was when Freo tried to switch through him, and he went for an unpressured kick to the flank and it ended up out on the full. He's a player with major upside, but his floor is about as low as anyone's. Not the type I'd want to see us spending any serious currency on, he's more of a "pick up another club's scraps and see if we can make it work"
With the amount of top end talent we have coming out of contract over the next two years. How do we realistically fit English, JUH and Naughton in our salary cap moving forward? They’ll all command upwards of 800 a year.
Do we have to do the unthinkable and trade someone like Naughton for pick 1 and replenish the midfield with that pick. We also have Darcy waiting in the wings who can replace him. It’s a terrible conversation to have. But one that needs to be discussed?
If we were to lose any of those 3. I think Naughty is the one to let go unfortunately. I don’t think we can replace Timmy in the ruck. And I think Marta’s upside is just too great to give up.
James Jordon with 41 disposals in the VFL yesterday

He’s not the messiah and could certainly be stronger overhead particularly in the down the line bail out kicks, but I reckon he is doing exactly what he was recruited for.
His ruck work was good , more effective than English.
Been an important acquisition.
The cost is another debate.
The one-handed marking contest efforts seem to be something that all our tall forwards do at times now. They try to go for the higher percentage play, tapping it to the advantage of a team-mate, rather than have a defender intercept mark or spoil the ball to a 50/50 situation.I’m a bit conflicted because I was for the Lobb trade as we needed a second ruck if Darcy was going to take some time to develop, and I thought he was a decent forward/kick for goal. He’s been good in patches, but the games I’ve been at in person I can see why people criticise his efforts - there’s a lot of going one-handed for high balls or not even getting there in the first place.
Overall though I agree he’s been important, particularly as Darcy has been injured. He’s obviously just a placeholder until Sam can establish himself in that role. So if that happens by the end of this year and Lobb ends up playing VFL for two years on half decent coin then the cost might be prohibitive. Right now he’s an established best 22 player on a not-insane contract so probably ok.
I'm with you KH, his form has not been as bad as has been made out on here, and what he allows us to do with English has been very important. He looks ungainly and does mess up a lot of opportunities, but not many second rucks in the league go at a goal a game while offering as much as he does in the ruck. The cost, as you say, is a separate argument. His ruck work was good , more effective than English.

Demons fans think he can also play on the wing. A mature bodied, still young, inside outside mid? Yes please. Scott's done well to make himself a best 22 player but turns 29 before next season starts.I’d be surprised if we aren’t right into him. Fits the Bev versatility mantra and age profile.
