WCE will have silly salary cap room. Even if he only plays a handful of games you could imagine them offering Buss 3-4 years vs 2 and offer up double the salary. They will likely have a credible PSD threat too.

I’m not saying it’s likely but if I was a WCE fan I’d be wanting the club to offer a big salary and attempt to massively underpay at the trade table.
The only way money is relevant is if they're paying a 20 year old 600-700k for 5 years

He is 19 and hasn't played a game,

Respectfully why would pay be the reason he'd leave?

Spot on 08. We’ll have cash coming out of our ears and I think if you get your priority signings you won’t be able to come close to matching an offer from us. We are reasonable at the trade table (we have Hawks 44 and 62 for a bloke who hasn’t shown much when we could have got him free in PSD) so just wondering from Dogs perspective what a fair deal would look like?

If they want to give 4 years to a kid that hasn't played a game then that'd say a lot more about them.
If Buss gets games next year and looks solid then that'd just solidify his position in the squad and drive the price up further.
We have alot of out of contract players to worry about but Buss is last on the list.

Come back during next year and ask the some question about Buss

Young KPP who was a first round pick for a 3rd or 4th rounder after 1 year right......

Of course the discussion would be had next year but I don’t see an issue on getting a gauge on where dogs fans rate his worth one year out? Pretty sure you can all tell me that JUH is worth at least a top 3 pick?
Jamarra has exposed form though, Buss doesn't, another year in the twos and you'd be more of a chance to tempt him over I'd imagine. Where as if he plays 10 or more games he likely backs himself in and commits himself to staying, we would also be inclined to offer him a better deal in this case which would mean any Eagles offer would need to be significantly higher.

Higher than a mid 1st!?

Not at all. The discussion on our board has been a mid/late 1st rounder with maybe your 3R coming back. And it would be after 2 years when OOC.
If he'd made it clear that he wanted a trade during trade week a month ago then without the sweetener going back this would've been his approximate value.

Obviously he didn't thus making this entire discussion pointless.

Feel free to come back in 9 months when we will have a better idea of his intentions and where/if he fits in the side.

Unless of course he re-signs in the interim once again rendering this discussion pointless.

I meant the monetary offer to Buss to convince him to leave. I won't go into draft cost as that is even more water under the bridge stuff. So much plays out in 2 weeks of trade period let alone a whole calender year which includes his first uninterrupted pre season and more then likely his first year of AFL football.

If WCE take the spoon again you’d get him for your 2nd round pick and maybe we’d swap F2s also. It’s unders but that’s how it works if you’ve already tapped him up and he’s publicly wanting out.

Thank you. Sensible answer, I think 2R straight swap is fair, especially if PSD is available and he wants to leave but yes, a lot of water to go under the bridge.

Yep, not “fair” but it’s what would happen.

How long is the list of young KPPs formerly from WA that your board is discussing? Buss, DGB, Gibcus, McDonald, van Rooyen?

the good old PSD Threat that hardly gets used only on Bigfooty
It doesn’t play out mostly because the clubs begrudgingly accept ubders for OOC players, like we did with Dunkley. Doesn’t mean the threat isn’t used. Jackson Hately and Jack Martin have both gone via the PSD in the last 3-4 years.

Since no one else will say it, I’ll state the obvious: it’s time to get Ayce Cordy back to the club. Via the rookie list if need be.

If they were gonna offer something stupid like a swap of second rounders I'd let him walk to the pre Season draft.
Eagles will need to bring more then one player in through trades next year if they're going to get off the bottom of the ladder this decade. They can't walk everyone to the PSD.

Dunkley pick Brisbane we were always going to get unders for him since they were point hunting
