You have a stockpile of KPP and Croft coming. Buss going to see some good minutes next year? We wouldn’t trade our F1 unless we were getting massive overs. I don’t know how you guys are going to finish bottom 5 you’re starting to sound like a North supporter…
We haven't asked for handouts yet and don't think the world is against us yet owes us everything

Buss is different to our other talls and has better foothills then most of them. Lobb, Jones and keath are all towards the end of their careers and Jamarra, Naughton and English are all out of contract next season. I think our talls a over stated. We may not finish bottom 5 but while it's a strong possibility I wouldn't want to throw the pick away.

My preference would be to hold pick 10 and trade 17 (possibly to pies or Tigers for a future second and a pick in the 30s).

If Buss can start taking some contested marks he will lock down that position in the back 6.

The picks the AFL have given us ( North) is a sneaky way for the AFL to further assist GC.

Not only will gold coast have access to 3 gun academy players, they will now get a plethora of picks for this year and next year from North.

All the AFL had to do was give North pick 11 and allow Sanders to be bid by North.

North would have simply used pick 11 with no need to give GC numerous picks.

Bulldogs could have made a play for pick 4 and picked up a Watson or Dursma.

Everything the AFL does is by design and this is further assistance to gold coast by using North as the scapegoat.

Welfare club.

Buss is a jet. I’d be very keen to bring him home. Surely JUH re-signs, KPFs sorted for 10 years after you take Croft. Keeping 10 would be ideal, ballsy with Dildoro picking 2 picks before you though. 17 is going to end up about 24 at best so tigers F2 and 30s would be a good result.

Gotta laugh at the AFL supposedly giving North more welfare so it can by stealth help GC, a team that has just dominated the second tier comp all season and won the flag.

The AFL is now more of a rort and more compromised than ever.
I was amazed that Gold Coast had 20 AFL listed players play in the VFL premiership on the weekend. I was then informed Gold Coast have an extended list of 50 to choose from!

I’m sure the other clubs are thrilled at the lack of integrity in the competition.

A joke. But, you know, apparently GC still need more of a leg up. 🙄

Even though Lions are in the Grand Final, I still have a feeling GC are more likely to win the next premiership out of the two QLD clubs.

As a QLD resident, most people up here wouldn’t know the who is in the AFL grand final. I have never heard AFL discussed on any job site or workplace or school pick up. It’s just not relevant.

But the AFL keep throwing good money after bad, in a desperate attempt to get GC a flag.

A flag that nobody, not even its own community, will give a stuff about, but the AFL are so heavily invested now that it can't afford to fail.

So, what we get is endless concessions, endless sneaky back door deals like the North deal that will help GC, a bulging playing list and the AFL happy to keep the money tap flowing to them. What a joke.

Do we just offer 17/18 to north for one of the compo picks next year? Use 10 on best available this year, get crofty then trade back in or sit tight with a good hand in 2024?

North can still use 17 in their trading with the suns if they want.
Not a bad idea, but I suspect Gold Coast are getting all of North's compo picks as part of a pick 4 bid.

Omg, you haven’t actually come here and played the victim have you? That’s unbelievably funny

I think you miss my point.

North were always going to get some sort of assistance based on history where most clubs have received assistance.

Giving us pick 11 and allowing us to bid on Sanders was the lesser of two evils.

Now we have all these other picks by AFL design which will mostly end up with GC just so we can try to get Sanders.

I reiterate that the AFL have picked the assistance package to stealthily help the GC suns which will have the greatest impact on the other 16 teams.

Anyways I'm not here for an argument.

Regards and goodnight.

Based on history? What history? If we want to look at history of basketcase organisations, why don't we see what happened to Fitzroy and repeat that?

The AFL rightly scrapped the old priority pick system from the 2000s because it was shit. The only priority pick history under the current system has been Gold Coast who were 9 years into their existence and had continuously bled players to interstate rivals. The old system is irrelevant and has as much to do with North getting priority picks as your own club buying Carey and Longmire with cash on the way to 2 premierships** in the 90s, or exploiting the very short lived 10 year rule on the way to your other 2 premierships** in the 70s. North having any mid-term success following these handouts will be met with even more disdain, although I strongly doubt the club has the ability to achieve anything given their current welfare-reliant mentality.

The entitlement by North, both club and fans alike, that you somehow deserve these priority picks for being absolutely inept is pathetic, as is the response following them being 'rewarded' by the AFL with many of you still complaining. There's a good reason why fans of 17 other clubs are up in arms about this, alongside the expected compensation for McKay which is preceeded by Clarkson's comments yesterday ("we just cannot lose Ben McKay for a back end of first round or second round pick. Hopefully the compensation will be somewhere near the top." wah wah) for a player who is absolutely not worth anywhere near pick 3.

Keep rattling those tins and claiming you're hard done by, shinboners.

North will target pick 1 from WC with a deal using their picks before they talk with GC.

WC will then have to decide between multiple local players or Reid. They need players all over the park, the North deal would be best for them to take multiple shots at improving their list.
We aren’t trading Reid for for a giant shit sandwich of middling “huge potential upside” WA talent. Pick 1 is the only pick on the draft that is totally unaffected by all this bs compo/bids.

Pick 2 plus pick 11 & a F19; is a good deal.
Replacing pick 11 with another pick may even get it over the line.

I am not suggesting lots of middling first round picks get pick 1; I am suggesting that those picks will allow them to upgrade pick 2 to 1.

It's a completely valid option. North can give you the McKay compo to draft Curtin and then you get a couple of extra first rounders thrown on top.

WCE need quantity over quality at this point. I'd take Curtin + two additional first round prospects over one Reid.

I’d love to know how discussions are going with JUH, Naughty, Timmy and Baz. Retaining all 4 will certainly put pressure on the cap.
Most noise is around Baz then Timmy.
What if Naughty was the sticking point. Would the Eagles part with pick 1 for him given the noise over Reid not wanting to go interstate.
Leaves us with JUH, Lobb (for now) and maybe a hybrid Bont as talls or Darcy if he comes good. Also frees up to go smaller. The expense is some area moments from Naughty and his pressure.
Still leaves a mix of Libba, Ads, Jacko (more mid time), Smith and Reid in middle with a sprinkling of Bont (like Petracca).

All the talk of pick swaps just got me wondering, would Weagles give up 1 for Naughty, would it need to have a deep of pick also?

I wouldn’t even Trade Naughton for pick 1

No, especially as some WA talent hasn't finished the year off very well (e.g.. Curtin).
Pick 2 isn't worth substantially less IMO - McKercher is a quality mid, from Tassie so no Vic go-home factor, runs and spreads better than Reid and potentially gives you extra picks as North may well overpay substantially for it. I really rate him and I wouldn't be surprised if he has a better career.
