We're definitely not getting a 3rd rounder for a 30 y/o out of contract player that can't crack our team. He'll probably moved as a DFA.
We can ask for pick 65 for Crozier and pick 70. Tiny upgrade. IIRC we got Shane Biggs and pick 37 for pick 35.
Roughy was traded for something like pick 81.

I'm happy to free up a few lists spots and take a couple of late picks this year.

Gotta laugh at the AFL supposedly giving North more welfare so it can by stealth help GC, a team that has just dominated the second tier comp all season and won the flag.

The AFL is now more of a rort and more compromised than ever.

yeah was thinking this. heres some magic beans that if you dont use this year, we might take back.

Isn't Crozier out of contact? I think it should be ufa instead of DFA.
We could hope for some compensation but it would be unlikely
Would be zero compo

If Blues want to sign a free agent, we could trade Crozier for a late third/fourth so it doesn't impact their compo stuff

Sounds like Crozier and Buku are likely gone.

We can't replace them just with draftees imo. Our depth is already a weak point on the list.
Crozier and Buku played 5 games combined and barely featured even when our depth was tested. Cleary couldn't get a game in 2023 so in theory he takes that depth spot and Darcy will hopefully be healthier to offer depth in our KPF/Ruck department.

Anyone know who North are leaning towards assuming they have 2 early picks? I can’t see how McKercher falls to the GC pick if they get that extra cheeky pick in. He’s just too good :(

Firstly, Naught's is already on good coin so the increase will be smaller. The Salary Cap increases by 10% next year and over 30% in the next 4. There is no reason we should not be able to keep and keep happy all 4 of them unless our list management is very poor.

Secondly, Though I still think Naughts should be at CHB, even if he remains in the forward line he will still be significantly better than the vast majority of alternatives so why on earth would we trade him at all
It was if he holds out and holds things up . Appreciate cap increases but everyone will want a slice of the pie. Also some sides willing to pay silly amounts, just see MCKay

I was just thinking out loud and slightly changing the 6,343 pages of getting pick 4

Its the system working as it should.

Guys like this who are surplus to requirements at one club. May have a value at another.

We can't expect players stuck at Footscray to remain there just to bolster our depth.

Crozier has one more shot left in him and with Khamis given the season he just had.

Its literally now or never if he's going to make it.

Do we just offer 17/18 to north for one of the compo picks next year? Use 10 on best available this year, get crofty then trade back in or sit tight with a good hand in 2024?

North can still use 17 in their trading with the suns if they want.
Not a bad shout. I could definitely see a trade between us a North happening. I wouldn’t even be opposed to sending pick #10 their way for both of their future priority picks / F2, maybe also upgrading our picks 63 and 66 for their picks 58 and 59 to get some extra points for matching. Their interest in Buku makes this more possible also.

It’s not the ideal scenario but there would be worse positions than matching a bid on Croft and then having north’s 2 x 2024 end of R1 priority picks + F2 to either trade back in or take a big haul into 2024.
