Was chatting to a Saints supporter a few weeks before the end of the season, and we discussed Seb Ross. I asked if Ross can play anywhere except mid. His response was that Ross only has one good position, but it's not mid. Confused, I said "what is it?" He said "delisted Saint"!

Cal- Saints have cooled their pursuit for Dan Houston
Leaving- Pies, Carlton, North and Dogs are the remaining teams
With the way big player trades tend to (well...always) pan out. Im guessing that Norf and the dogs are the stalking horses being used to entice the bigger game to the table. Hence the Saints already being shot out of the competition.

It'll be Carlton in the end given his association with Voss.

He is even more injury prone than Coffield
True, both seem to be very unlucky with injuries, but I gotta say I haven't been impressed with the handful of games Coffield has had since coming across. I dont rate him at all.

I can definitely recall Marchbank putting in some decent games at Carlton.

I know we made the Elimination Final, but our list is

a) starting to look like it is aging out badly in a few positions and

b) full of list cloggers.

The impact of our aging midfield is coming like a freight train. Libba wont be around long, Treloar had a career best season but I dont know hwo many more like that and with that clean bill of health we can expect from him.

Sanders should hopefully come along nicely and Ed has been a great move. But we're looking like losing a lot of depth. Smith out, maybe Macrae, maybe Garcia. We need to get some new blood in pretty badly before it's too late

Probably not overly brave calls but somewhat big calls from Carlton. Think they are right for all of them. They seem to rate all three super highly and almost always get back in the 22 in the rare times they’re fit but you can’t keep giving contracts to guys who are injured 3/4 of the season, every season.

Shame for Marchbank. He looked really good in his first year or two at Carlton, projected as a Lever type. Body has just never been right since and the few games he’s played the last couple of seasons, it looks like his body won’t allow him to do the things he used to. Was very underwhelming. Can’t imagine it’d be worth any club giving him another chance.

Hopefully we get Geelong's first this year and next and can trade next year's into this year and have 2 first rounders to use on midfielders to refresh the midfield

I'd rather keep the F1, chances are it could be single digits. There will be other opportunities to trade up.

Feels a little weird. I’m not a big Owies fan but think he can be important for Carlton. He doesn’t offer much else but he can kick goals and other than their big two they struggle to find goals.

I hope we’re not interested, don’t think he offers what we need. There is a role somewhere for him at AFL level

I reckon it might be tied in with Dan Houston
THey saving their cash incase Houston picks them

Owies quote from a Blues fan in his trade thread for those who haven't seen him play:

Issue is Owies is like a garden gnome full forward. Doesn't really kick many of his goals from crumbing or snapping the ball in an opportune moment.

He's a lead up set shot specialist who runs hard but has no pace to apply pressure and really doesn't add anything up the field.

Also a poor field kick.

He has a place somewhere in the AFL, but given we need list spots and trade capital I think he's just a player we think we can afford to lose to get something better back in afterwards.

To put it in context, only one area of the ground our list is ageing now, the midfield and we do have younger options coming through, would prefer at least 2 more.

most list cloggers have been moved on, not really an issue now
