Houston has knocked us back. Can we please just get Houston? Then I'll be okay about losing Bailey and Jack.
Make it happen.
You're never going to pass up a F/S player with the draft discount you get though. You can rate a player far less on your own draft board than the bid they were taken with and it's still the smart move to match the bid with the 20% discount and the over-valuing of later picks. One option the Bulldogs could have taken in regards to Sanders is not taken Croft.

On the small sample, it’s been a failure. Good player and potential but at this stage not worth the capital outlaid.I think bean counting over picks isnt worth it - the only important thing is picking the good players.
Its like the Lobb trade - it was either going to be a great trade or a crap one, depending entirely on how useful Lobb turned out to be.
Same with Sanders - if he fails, its a horrible waste of draft currency, but if he stars, it was genius to trade up to get our hands on him.

Sanders’ first year by the stats has been extremely similar to Macrae’s, and he’s faster than Macrae.

Going by media Houston wants to join CarltonWhere'd you see that?
Apparently it's ok to screw clubs over if you can get the player to nominate your club. We're told you win some you lose some. So, let's start returning the favour and going after other clubs players well ahead of trade week. In the case of the smith trade, I don't think we'd get De Koning but someone like Sam Mannagh might be gettbale and immediately fills a need.Yeah agreed. Need a bit of a win.
Also, I love this time of year when the likes of Geelong and others want a starting 22 player, a player that went top 10 in the draft who has proven himself in finals, a player with speed who will be a key cog in the midfield, but don't want to give anything up.
Of course we should be asking about their players? We should be in there ears trying to convince them to come over. Geelong does that, so return the favour.
So De Koning for Smith is not outrageous. More of it.

Feel for the kid but he was ordinary in the 3 games he did play and his body is made of glassA shame it didn’t work out with Rypstra in such short time.
