KANGAS HIT DANIEL ROADBLOCK

NORTH Melbourne has held preliminary discussions with the Western Bulldogs around the potential of a Caleb Danieltrade, though the Kangas believe a move for the contracted defender remains unlikely.

Daniel is reluctant to officially request a trade to Arden Street unless a suitable agreement can be reached between the two clubs, but has interest in getting to North Melbourne by Wednesday night's deadline.

However, the Kangaroos have said their initial chats with Bulldogs officials "didn't get far" and reiterated their belief that Daniel – who is contracted through until 2026 – would be retained at the Whitten Oval.
Speaking to AFL.com.au's Gettable on Friday, North Melbourne list manager Brady Rawlings said the Bulldogs hadn't yet given the Kangas an indication of what they would accept for Daniel in a trade.

"Not sure on that one," Rawlings said of a potential Daniel deal.
"We certainly have interest. (But) he's a contracted player and he's contracted for another couple of years.

"I've had a chat with the Dogs and it doesn't seem like they have much appetite at all to trade him out. We'll keep in touch, but at the end of the day he's contracted for two more years and the Dogs want to keep him." – Riley Beveridge

This sounds like it’s very much on the cards, we have obviously set a high price. I’d imagine we’d come to some sort of an agreement before Wednesday.

Surely Tigers didn’t need to part with that much to get pick #20 seemed like overkill to jump up 12 spots.

Pick 40-whatever is not worth that much.

There's every chance the player that you would want to add to your list at that stage, would be available to be picked at the end of the draft.

For instance we took Gallagher and Vandermeer with top-40 draft picks of which if we had just had a pick 48 instead or whatever they almost certainly would have been there at pick 48 as well. Therefore, the difference between pick 37 and 48 in some situations is to be so small to be almost meaningless.

Don't let the inaccuracy of the draft value index points that Brisbane are claiming fool you into thinking what the picks are practically worth

The gall to ask for Humphrey as part of the Noble trade.

North need to get some older experienced players around the young guns they already have . Not another 18 year old midfielder who’s not gonna drag them off the bottom few spots of the ladder . They should cough up that second rounder

I don't think they do this deal in a year where they weren't getting picks for Rioli, Bolton and Baker.

Not sure they are particularly keen on bringing in 8 or 9 18 year olds in the draft. Pick 20 is a decent chance of being their 5th pick

Contrast this with Freijah, who would not have lasted until the end of the draft

Of course. Which is why it's worth something. Just not that much. It's not nothing, but it's just minimal, because a Freijah doesn't come around typically, just occasionally.

Why does it matter that Jack is overseas?

Is St. Kilda expecting him to be in the meeting room and begging Sam Power to leave?
Is this even an excuse anymore though. If they really wanted him they'd find a way to contact him. I remember a few years ago a senior coach or list manager flew out to Vegas to meet a player on holidays and conduct a medical before trading him in.

Brisbane need points to get Ashcroft, looks like they’ve overpaid and struck a deal so they will nominate him at pick 1

If we offered 17 and F1 as a package, what pick would would be the minimum we'd accept for it? Seems that 8, 9, 10 11 and 13 could be on the table for the right deal.
