So.................

Caught up with my player-manager mate today, haven't seen him for awhile because it's that time of year where he goes overseas. Squeezed him for what infomation I could.

-Bevo met with quite a few oppo players during the off season, including one his clients (wouldn't tell me who) - Reckons we are cashed up and chasing midfielders and small forwards incredibly hard.
-He knows that the Bevo/Rowell meeting went extremly well, in his words ''Rowell is a bit of a weird unit and having a head coach along those lines will help him flurish''
-JUH stuff has taken alot of people in the AFL world from left field, he is suppoedly recieving an unprecedented amount of support from outside the club, and is more than certain the Dogs will hold him to contract unless a godfather offer comes along but based on current circumstances that won't be happening. I did ask him about us terminating him and he did confirm that short of JUH being charged with something wickedly illegal, the AFL would never tick off on the number 1 Indiginous draft pick of the last 20 years being delisted for off field activities.
-Bevo is leaning towards staying but length of contract will be sticking point.
-Incredibly confident that Ed and Bont will be with us long term.
-Supposedly English's concussion problems are a real concen for him/his management + family, from what he understands from rumors off the grapevine, the last concussion almost retired him for good, doesn't think English will see out his current contract. He wouldn't be surprised if we start chasing a mature ruck as back up considering we looked at Crossely.

Nothing too spicy but it's good to hear we're really chasing targets this year.
Just confirms my thoughts on Tim.
His knee to the head by Aaron was a sickening blow , seeing his eyes roll and unconscious made me feel ill.
All the best for big chill .

I am glad we are chasing midfielders because it's not hard to imagine a world where Libba and Treloar both retire. Libba was discussed last year due to his head knocks and his knees aren't great anyhow. Treloar's calves, hammys are an ongoing issue.

While Freijah and Sanders etc are developing, we would be incredibly thin in midfield with only Bont and Red with enough experience.

My contact, thinks Butters is pretty much done if he chooses to leave. Wants to play with his hero.

My contact says that Butters has a Bontempelli shrine in his lounge room and that the PAFC makes regular house calls, pleading with him to take it down cause it effects team chemistry and unity.

Who doesn’t?

Really inclusive graphic of all teams chasing Butters, from FoxFooty.View attachment 2268941

So Hawthorn are into Allen, Reid, Butters and probably Rowell, the Bont, Nick Daicos, the 2000 Essendon team and the ghost of John Coleman.

At this point, I assume they have a bottomless salary cap. Or does Mitchell's wife just make cracking party pies or something?
