Nice trade up by us. Top 10 lands us in that range of certainty. Now just don't stuff it up!
Can someone actively explain to me how we got that trade over the line?

I can’t work out how that trade could benefit anyone apart from us?

How many players can Suns take from their academy this draft? what draft pick does it cost em?
The rules are quite limited in women's compared to mens, e.g no value applies to a draft pick when bidding on an academy player. The rule applying here is that Suns must use their next pick, as long as it is within the same or next round, within 18 places.

Suns this year have one Top 3 player, 1 x mid first round and 1 end of 1st round in Havana Harris, Tara Harrington and Mia Salisbury are their top 3 targets so they have traded out pick 2 & 20 in trade to get Mithen and in this multi club trade have received picks 19, 27 and 30. This will cover them as Harris bid say 3 = 3 +18 = 21, possibly then 27 and 30 used on Harrington and Salisbury.

They also then have Nyalli Milne, a very good midfielder, who maybe gets a bid in second round then they could use their 3rd round pick

So Suns are huge winners, end up 182 cm gun mid Havana Harris, Tara Harrington Nyali Milne & Mithen & MFC are winners ~ good picks rec'd & RFC small winner. 2 pick upgrade.

it's a strong group of players at the Suns academy, next year also they have Georja Davies coming through, another top 10 player and Dakota Baron to name two who they can take with lower picks.

It will be what keeps Charlie Rowbottom at the club with the young guns coming through and not return home to VIC.
I'm hoping for a Suns team to develop quickly so that in future Q clashes they can take it right up to the Lions.

Melbourne are winners for sure, they will get another young gun but our pick 10 in this draft is nothing to be sneezed at either.

Respected posters like stan judkins and profop frothing at RFC's 2 pick upgrade is Adrian Dodoro, Blair Hartley levels of winning trade week.

It looks like the Suns won to me.

It's as strong a draft as we've seen I think, so 12 to 10 will only be understood when more intel comes out around our Pick 10 selection. The ten places gained on our Round3 selection might improve our bargaining position too.

The ONLY way you can say we lost anything at all was if you have a miss of a target with our 2nd Rounder (we slid 4 places). So just 4 picks (30, 31, 32, and 33) will determine that. As good as the draft is, it's a worthy risk.

Personally, it looks like a free hit, more than a win or loss for Tiges AFLW!

not necessarily frothing at the deal we traded for, but very pleased
can't underestimate what a move from 12 to 10 will mean in this draft, being the 1st truly national

I liken it to the AFL Fremantle trade for Shai Bolton, we gave up pick 14 for them to give us pick 11 (as well as 10 and 18)
like Phar Ace says below, it's nearly a free hit

GCS with their 3 academy players were always going to win any way you look at it
Melbourne did very well too

i think it worked out fairly for all clubs involved, everyone got what they wanted

this ^^^^^ 100% spot on

pick 12 was a touch too far i thought for a decent slider, but pick 10 is very close to getting a very good one
like I've said I rate 7-8 players as the standouts, after that very even

only takes 1 or 2 bolters and we're in the standout zone

Haha I mean I only looked at what we gave up and got in return in complete isolation, no idea what the rest of the trade was hence asking the question of how it made sense to the other clubs

Two different pick increases for a move back of a later pick, would have thought the teams with the original picks could have just used those rather than giving us nice upgrades

yeah been busy of late TigermanM2
the 2024 draft pool is very good, all the way up to our pick 12 and beyond

This national draft thing will be interesting. A sprinkling of interstate girls among those names.

Will Vic clubs be bold and grab interstate talent given there is likely to be comparable local talent around their pick?

Will the go home factor be stronger in AFLW?

Bit different to when clubs pick top up players from interstate when they have missed out on being drafted and are desperate to get on a list.

Won't be as big a problem when they get paid min $100k and they play an 18 game season but we aren't there yet are we.

"Essendon is also among the clubs hoping to pull off late trades, with the club attempting to land Richmond youngster and former first-round pick Emelia Yassir in the final two days of the window."

"Paige Scott could be heading in the opposite direction, with the Tigers still interested in the forward."

"Sydney is hoping to secure North Melbourne's Lulu Pullar, though negotiations remain ongoing, while talks around a deal for Imogen Brown to head to the Swans and for Montana Beruldsen to get to the Tigers are also in the works."

Losing Yassir would be pretty disappointing
wowee...... if we trade Yassir for Scott in any way shape of form, I am going to spew...🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

Brown for Beruldsen i can't understand either.......another B-C grader
she's a 25 y.o fwd who's played 14 games and only kicked 4 goals???????
WTF are we doing?...........
Beruldsen is a project player and that’s kind.

I’ve got some concerns Stan

Pretty common knowledge that Yassir is a mad Bomber fan. Can't lie and say I didn't see this coming if it rings true.

We might have put the feelers out for Scott and Bumbers came back with "Sure! Trade us Yassir". I would do the same.

There is no way that the club want to lose Yassir so if she goes cause she wants to then its not a case of the club being at fault. Win some lose some. We've done ok really. After all, that's how we got Brennan and Conti.

yeah i get it.......but still doesn't sit well, considering Yassir is 1000 miles better than Scott

if we get the Saints pick that Bombers will want for Amber Clarke (straight pick 8, no swaps)..........i could live with that
with our Rd 3 pick 38 going for Scott..... nothing else

Hahaha Sheehan is producing another draft and trade masterclass. Yassir out and slow unfit hacks in.

Yawn - Sheehan should have gone years ago after she drafted Sophie Molan, her best mate with a bung knee and traded our 1st rounders for Federicks.
