Not sure we should get hung up on who gets paid Tier 1 etc.

Personally I'd be surprised if either KB or MC are T1. They can make the $$ elsewhere.

Crafty list managers make better use of tier payments. (within the rules)

There's not that much difference in $ between a T1 and a T2, only $15K. Clubs are allowed to have 3 x players on T1, but most clubs only have the 2, for a reason. You would think that we would be the same.

No need to make KB T1 when our sponsors pay beautifully for the promotions they do as a trade off. Can pay KB a lower Tier to get another player up to T1 and supported. There was more going on for Sheerin than just Tiers. These arrangements are being allowed to run their contractual course.....

It's about pulling the best outcome for the team - an example only. KB does marketing with a Club sponsor including adverts and pulls $250k under promo contract, while Gabby Seymour, who is far less marketable, gets T1 - win win.

As I said, it's just an example of what is possible - it's a crude guess. The Tiered levels can, and are, being easily supplemented with promotional contracts and to a lesser extent ambassadorial roles.

In Katie's case, she's been widely used with NIB, is involved with Toyota and is a NAB ambassador, and probably more if you look about.

Cap will be increased by $100k to $127k but know what you saying, bringing in the cap will tighten it all up, uncapped, 15k is easily replaced currently through sponsorship jobs, the point was re freeing up $$ using tiers gives you some breathing room to either retain or target players, as everyone has a $ figure or offer that can make them reconsider their position.

Very easy to name at least 8 players who would on T1 or T2 at Nth and be favoured pay wise over Sheerin. They aren't going to blow up their premiership list by bringing in an outsider on bigger coin.

That doesn’t necessarily mean she didn’t blow up coz of money , she may have reasoned well if I can’t max the coin I’m worth I may as well try and win a flag , I’m out

This year I could make a sound case she should have won the bf . Kind of glad she didn’t tho
