"I'm coming off an adductor release (operation), so I'm a bit modified at the moment," Redden told 6PR.

"So I'm in the rehab (group) but I'm still running a few kilometres every week, I should be back in training before Chrissy hopefully.”

Redden will be aiming to slot into a midfield that prides itself on contested possession, an area he excelled in during his time at the Lions.

Redden says Adam Simpson has already spoken to him about his role next year. This is from the Eagles website. Can see Redden pushing 90kg or more and really being a threat next season.

I know yeo is really strong and that but does any one rekon that he is one of those player struggles putting muscle on? You look at other players of similair sizes like dangerfield, fyfe, kennedy and even pendlebury to an extent and all of them are very big. yeo is listed as 86khs but if he gets to a bout 92-90kgs, he will be pretty hard to stop on the inside.

He also mentioned he must do more 3x45s a week

I dont see Murtimer making it, i rekon he will be the first of his draft class to be cut.

You can get games early in your career and still not really make it. Adam Cockie, Adam Carter, Ash Smith etc... That's kind of where I see Mutimer at this early stage. Can play a role but doesn't necessarily project as a long term player.

Depends on how you define project. He doesn't have glaring weaknesses but he will need a few years before being able to play well at AFL level IMO

I got the distinct feeling that Allan was/is a project

With the reduced interchange rotations, those bigger players might see themselves losing a bit of weight and our guys around the 86 kg mark might be on da money

Yeah, it might be a deliberate ploy to keep yeo a little lighter so that he doesn't potentially decrease his speed/agility/aerial ability. Makes sense if they plan to keep using him as a utility, but I think an extra few Kgs wouldn't go astray if he was to become a full time mid.

Mutineer was pick 50 something in what was considered a weak draft. In all likelihood he won't make it.

Hoping he becomes on of the exceptions

If Nat Fyfe can go from 60kg to beast anyone can do it

Just imagine all the snide remarks from down the road if he did this as an eagle

yeah but even last year when they wanted all the mids get bigger, nearly everyone gained muscle except for yeo.

I think with yeo it's deceiving how strong he is . He is tall and lean with long limbs so it looks like he is a twig but when he crunches someone in a tackle and brings them down with ease you can see how strong he is .
His pace , leap and agility will suffer if he puts on to much unnessessary bulk just for the sake of being a battering ram in the middle . We have priddis and redden for that . I would be more happy if he plays a more shuey type role of keeping his feet and being on the move at stoppages rather than on the bottom of packs

I remember an interview where Dean Kenp was discussed and they reckon after three big years in the gym he'd put on only 1kg.
Wiry muscular is good though, some players bulk up too much and lose pace. Even Cuz went that route briefly I seem to recall.

Not eating enough calories is a big reason why these skinny guys can't put on weight.

Some may even need to eat up to 6000-7000 calories a day

The Draftees are just as floggy , the media are just as floggy , evryone is floggy around this period .

Media : " so who do play like "
Draftee : " I think I am like Gary Ablett " ( As If they would say I am like Patrick Mcginnity or Kane Lucas or Farren Ray )

Club Supporters " we have a 10 year player this guy will lead our club singlehandedly into finals every year if he can just stay fit .

Media : who are your Heroes .
Draftee : My mum and dad and my grandad passed away but he gave $2 every game .
Media : I bet the little town of timbuktoo are all behind you .
Draftee : Yeaah the whole town is wrapped and now they have all become GWS supporters

Club Supporters : What a nice kid but those media campaigners ask dumb questions .
