i quite like that.
In the event of an upset and we take McGrath, is mccluggage to gws a given?

It isn't, or O'Meara would have just killed time until November 1st and signed as a DFA.

For all those players who don't qualify as DFAs. Of course, the national draft serves that purpose just fine.
Ah ok my bad. So any other uncontracted players just nominate for the pre-season or national draft then?

Its pretty obvious that the rules where changed midstream.

If you trade your future first rounder you cannot trade another future pick in the same draft. Carlton did a trade with GWS. Carlton then did a trade with Hawks. Once Carlton and Hawks completed the trade. It was their future pick.

I reckon the AFL stepped in and got this sorted.

Something about it does smell a bit fishy.

I've never been more excited after a ND / Rookie draft than last year and 1 year on I'm equally ecstatic.

Francis: potential superstar - the one guy I really, really wanted. Cartwheels when his name was read.

Parish: safe choice. Was slightly in preference of Oliver pre draft but was my second choice marginally. Once Oliver was gone, we got the guy I wanted. Should be a solid B/B+ player. Not sure he'll be a league A grader but a star Bomber.

Morgan: a disappointment thus far - deserves another year before proper judgement. Picked for his line breaking speed - something we needed so I get the rationale.

Redman: looks a steal, here's hoping.

Hartley and Brown: why the hell did no one else want these guys? Especially Hartley due to age. The Pies would love them now! Oh wait they had one..

Eades: think he'll be a bust but loved that they took a chance on this kind of risk/reward player late in draft

Nyuon: Exactly the sort of player we needed to go for. Early days and might not work out, but the right selection 100% in my mind.

Tippa: need I say anything?

Hams and Wallis: didn't agree at the time and not much has changed. Ah well.

Great drafting Bombers. Let's do this again.

Despite the quoted wording, it's simple enough. The intent of the rule is to ensure a given club doesn't trade out an entire slate of picks in advance. If a club trades extra picks in, they're free to trade them (or others) out, so long as they retain either a first rounder or a full set of the remainder. It would help if the league published the exact wording of these regulations, but the intent is what matters, what has been consistently conveyed, and what governs these sorts of trades.

As for the AFL stepping in, you may have noticed the AFL publicly approving Geelong's request to bend said rule. No such approval was necessary for Hawthorn, because they retained 2017 picks from the second round onwards.

So the media keeps linking us to Josh Green (from Brisbane Lions) as a possible PSD pick thoughts?
Will it pan out like this: Stewart in/Mckernan out, Green in/Kommer out, player at pick 41 running half back in/Dempsey out.

dude! he will be a ****ing superstar!

mate it's the 42nd spot on the list or something. Would you rather keep one of Koomer/Mckernan/Dempsey or look at Barlow, if he does indeed get the chop at Freo.
There's a thing called a draft. Or we could upgrade multiple rookies. Not saying Barlow wouldn't be a decent get for someone I just don't think he's the right fit for our age demographic.

A football tragedy Barlow.

Was genuine elite til the broken leg second only to ablett as the best mid that year IMHO. Wasnt a jet but could run hard at a good pace the entire game and kick goals. Was tearing teams apart - I thought his running has looked awkward since the injury - he said he was in pain a long time after his return.

Rather not, he wants too much money apparently (was asking the Lions for $500k which is what Eddie Betts is on who is a far, far better player than Green). My two preferences are Harry Dear and/or Xavier Richards.

What's the knock on Romensky. I haven't seen him play. Another TAC star with no afl attributes?
Not overly big issues. He could be cleaner, can sometimes put his teammates under pressure by hand and he isn't that damaging. His work rate and agility though are very decent and definitely think he could be a successful AFL player just unsure if he will be a defender or midfielder at the top level.

Either would be good! From having 1 key forward to actual depth and players fighting for a spot
