Darling is not a top line forward. If he was a 50+ goal genuine key forward then you could talk about him that way, but as it stands with him what you see is what you get. He's an undersized key forward who will kick 40ish goals per year but will never be a genuine leader of a forward line. If a first round pick were to come in to play, particularly when it's a pick 6 like we'll have, I'd be putting my money of picking up a kid in the draft who could become a genuine star rather than a mid tier key forward like Darling.

Is Fas worth a first round pick? Nope, but I'd rate him a solid second rounder. Darling is definitely worth more than him, hence why Fas and steak knives. The fact you're even asking about whether Fas is worth a first indicates that you think Darling might be worth a first round pick and steak knives, which means that you're the one here grossly overestimating your players value.

Cut it with the emotionally intelligent bullshit. If you can't be respectful to posters on an opposition board then you can **** off back to the WC board.

Mixed with Elliott, Fasolo, Daicos or Kirby.

Alot of genuine scoring options.

You delist Thomas (& Keeffe) Apex36 because we did the right thing by them........it was part of Perts culture revolution but we owe them nothing now...........it might be harsh but it's fair.

Neither of those players will be in our next Premiership IMO.

There will be 22 players on our list that won't be in the team in our next premiership year. You don't delist players simply because they aren't a clear best 22, especially if they're still relatively young and have been performing well.

I couldn't give a toss whether we did the right thing by them or alerts culture revolution or whatever. None of that is any reason to delist a player. You retain or delist players based on performance. Thomas has managed to get himself upgraded from the rookie list and play some good footy, which has been a fantastic effort given the circumstances. He has earned himself a contract extension imo, as his best is best 22 standard and his worst is competent depth.

Keeffe on the other hand hasn't been able to get a game as a KPP at either end of the ground despite our desperation for talls this year. I have no issue in delisting him. We owe him nothing.

We have a lot of middle-of-the-road players. Trade away whatever anyone else wants, we won't miss them, whoever they are. All pretty interchangeable.

40 goals is great, no doubt. But a 40 goal a year forward is not a top line key forward, as old mate claimed. It's a rung below and as such, shouldn't command the currency of a top liner. A first round pick in the teens or Fasolo + sweetener is fair.

He is averaging 17 disposals and just under a goal a game after 2 years out, and has cleaner hands than 90% of our players. He is a far superior player to Blair, which is an extremely low bar admittedly. It is quite funny that you should put him in the Blair category though while saying he won't be in our next premiership tilt. Last time I checked Blair has a premiership medallion!

Yeah it is a pickle, maybe we can trade Mayne or some of the others still in contract for picks 105, 106, etc. Won't get anything back other than freeing up list space.

Yeah, wants to get back in the system. Moved to Adelaide, doing training in teaching I believe and playing in the SANFL. Playing really well off the half back flank. Still only 23.

Our AFLW team may be interested in Darling. The biggest girl playing in the AFL. Scared of his own shadow. Knwon to hear footsteps. Belongs at the Weagles.

Some of these guys are available through FA, some will be obtainable through a swap if draft picks or fringe players. Either way the club needs to be looking at players with particular skill sets and of course positional requirements.
I think about 4 of those listed are obtainable. Two who l would like to see are Lever and Redpath in B & W next year.

A couple of those wont be available (Martin) or will be a fraction too expensive at the trade table (Kelly) which leaves us with some interesting talent to choose from.

Trengove for mine is a juicy prospect. Highly talented and would fit a definite need at a cheaper price tag than young Lever, who I also like quite a lot by the way. I'd be happy with one of those two to fill a key post reliably for years ahead.

Rockliff for mine comes in as the Sidebottom "replacement" in the event that we traded him for many beans (picks/Lever). Looking at the numbers, Rocky has averaged more disposals and tackles across the course of his career and you're likely to get him at a reasonable price.

Balic to me is a nice cheap young fella who could find a nice role for himself as the "new Aish", whilst Motlop would add some effective pace and silky ball skills to the team. Would also consider Pittard who didnt make your list.

Oh and I'm not all that opposed to Darling. reliable for about 2 goals a game, decent shot, reasonably young. Brander, Moore and Darling has a sexy ring to.

Darling could cure cancer and still be talked down. Easy 40-50 goals a year. "Oh but he's not a leader" and most forwards aren't. Teams only have one leader in their forward line typically, if you're lucky to have two life Buddy + Roughead then well done but otherwise, Darling would be an incredible recruit to be a 2nd tall and 3rd in the future providing we draft another tall. Extremely underrated player.

Ok.... so because one player showed clean hands the others clean hands are overrated? Don't really see the logic there.

Not sure why the comparison with Daicos anyway, they're both quite different players. I'm not convinced that Brown will become anything more than Thomas currently is either.

Gaff averages 30 nothing disposals a game. No hurt factor at all. Why do you think WC posters are floating his name as trade bait? He's not that great, and he really doesn't fill a need for us either, so why would we pay through the nose for him? Makes no sense.
