Wanted to (but nervous about) posting a hypothetical

What if our cap really is tight and the solution is to offload a player that no one wants to lose

Would you do the below if Grundy said he wanted to return home

Adelaide:
IN: Grundy
OUT: Pick 1 / Pick 2 (compo pick)

Collingwood:
IN: Pick 1 / Pick 2
OUT: Grundy

wouldn’t have a clue

was just suggesting how we might get pick 1

I would do it

McDonald isn’t worth giving up two first round prospects and two players for. You give up that kind of currency for players who will come in and have an immediate impact, not a draftee who may or may not make the grade....
What you’re proposing would be close to the most expensive trade in history, and for a guy who’s not even a proven AFL player yet.
[/QUOTE

It's aggressive, but not overly expensive from a points value perspective, especially when you look at the players picked up at pick 2 vs pick 15 in recent history.

Pick 2 value = 2517 points
2 x Pick 15's value = 2224 points

That's still 293 points short just on the pick swap.

You might not like it, but I'd take pick 2 over 2 x 15's any day.

95% of the potential trades mentioned on here won't happen, doesn't mean we can't talk about them.

2020 and 2021 firsts, plus Cox and Phillips for North's first this year and second next year..?

Our mate Rhyce Shaw can look after us 😉
Add Cunnington and Higgins (Although he is a FA).

Seeing some of the options in here----it just has Collingwood disaster written all over it.
I'd rather just go to the draft

Peter Wright I think will be a disaster, will turn into one these potential forwards who show glimpses that we persist with for 3 years then delist.

Using points to justify any trade is dumb if you aren’t using said points on a player. What you’re proposing is trading four players for 1 untried player, two of which would be mid first round prospects. That’s bonkers.

No, you’re saying you’d take pick 2 over 2 mid first round picks and two established AFL players.

Question (I’m sure has been covered 100 times in this thread) is this the last year in Beams’ contract? Or is his salary in our cap next year?

Contracted til 2022, but hopefully we can work out a compromise/payout at the end of this year

If he is on the list next year, I won't be handing my hard earned over....unless he does a backflip, commits to the club gets himself fit and plays!!! Which is zero chance by the looks of it.

Yeah, not sure why I'm trying to trick myself into thinking we'll ever have a clean bill of health, lol.

I would definitely take him if North pay some of his salary though!

There is a reason Polec can't get a game for North. Soft as warm butter and zero defensive skills.

Would be the biggest whipping boy of all time.

We trade for Peter Wright and extend his current contract for an extra year.

He’s an upgrade on Reid & Cameron. He’s young and played for the worst team of this century and kicked 30 goals.

Next year our KPF stocks should be:
2020 KPF draftee
Cox
W.Kelly
Wright
Tohill

Can anyone post this. Salt into the wounds and all that...

Long story short...
So why isn’t he a Magpie?
The answer is simply because they ranked Trey Ruscoe even higher, and held their nerve on draft night.
So they sent No. 51 to GWS – aware it would be used on Riccardi – in a deal that also saw the Pies move up the order in this year’s draft.
Importantly, they now hold a selection in every round.
Like the Giants did with Riccardi, the Magpies ranked Ruscoe a long way ahead of where they landed him.
They fell in love with the West Australian’s versatility, believing he was one of only a few players who could play in all three parts of the ground.
Ruscoe had excelled as a forward and a midfielder before he was surprisingly deployed in defence at last year‘s national championships.
It was an inspired move and left Ruscoe on the edge of Under-18 All-Australian selection.
