If we get Stringer, our bigs had better fully committ to defensive pressure. Richmond just won a premiership with a fleet of smalls and a single big in their forward line hassling the opposition defenders into mistakes, trapping the ball in the forward half. We would be looking at Daniher, Hooker, Stewart and Stringer... 4 tall forwards goes against what is currently working in the football world, despite his how good Tippa and Fanta are.

It'd be hilarious if he noms the kittens and the doggies fans get excited because 'Geelong get trades done quick and fair derp'. Then they pay a third rounder.

I still don't get why we ruled ourselves out from Rocky so early! Seemed a good fit for us and not exactly old. Strange we wouldn't even test the waters.

On paper I agree, Rocky could still have three or four good years ahead of him but it might be the case that he said no to Adrian.

DEVON Smith has toured Essendon and Carlton's facilities as he looks to find a club he believes can manage injuries better.

Expected to nominate his club of choice by Friday, Smith's manager confirmed on Wednesday he was interested in how clubs looked after their injured players.

"A big one for Devon is the player management, how they manage the players (coming) back through rehab," Ned Guy told NAB AFL Trade Radio.

Smith has also attracted significant interest from Collingwood and St Kilda.

Tom Browne was asked on twitter if he still thinks Stringer to Essendon and he replied "Yes will have the latest on 7 tonight"

Jake was at Essendon again this morning.

It will be interesting to know how long he was at Essendon for this morning, if it was say 10 minutes then maybe it was to turn the club down but if he was there for say half an hour or longer then I would be confidence that he is looking to come.

Was mentioned on blitz that Jake had coffee with Bellcho,Hooker and Xvavier this morning.

7 will have some footage tonight

For the first time in many years, our injury prevention was outstanding this year. Hopefully Justin Crow was able to explain his mastery.
The only thing to worry about there is Ambrose re-injuring his calf in training before he even played a game. Perhaps Smith can meet with Paddy and find out what really happened :p (Assuming Ambrose has good things to say of course). Brown's re-injury was due to him landing awkwardly on it in his first VFL game back, so that's not so much management of the previous injury as it just happening to be the same player that had just returned from that injury.

Hey this might help Smith decide:

I mean I barely understand what they're trying to say, but it looks impressive, right?

Stringer's manager Robbie D'Orazio confirmed on NAB AFL Trade Radio he had met with Essendon again on Wednesday and expects the forward to make his decision between the Bombers and the Cats in the next 24 to 48 hours.

"It's a really holistic approach for Jake, he's a young man with two kids so it’s a unique situation," he said. "We've got to pay respect to that, being a father first and then a footballer."

"Jake is looking for leadership on and off the ground at the club that he chooses, a strong coach, and obviously (he wants) some mentors around him."

So not Connors himself (I think we knew that but Connors name seems to get thrown about regardless). Father first, footballer second, and looking for leadership, coach, mentors. Jobe would make a good mentor so it's a pity he isn't sticking around, although they seem very different so maybe they wouldn't get along :p

Perfect mentor to help Jake look after the ladies.

I think we're going a long way as a club to repair some of the damage done in past seasons by looking after and treating players with dignity and respect. Ex players such as James Kelly & Adam Cooney would only have great things to say about us, and reading between the lines of what Adam Cooney was saying yesterday he has definitely been speaking to him about Essendon and why we would be a good fit.
