There is no certainty that our pick 9 gives us a player ready to play anywhere even close to Shiels level.
It is over the odds by a little bit but you have to weigh up what we already have and have already done.

Dodoro seems to have a good strike rate with late picks so I’m ok with trading first rounds picks for elite players.

He's not worth 2x first rounders and I'd be highly surprised if Dodo traded next year's first. Trading future firsts is a big risk, you never know what will be happening down the track and what you might need it for.

Look at last year, imagine if we'd have given away this year's first pick for Stringer? We all wanted him badly and would have accepted it. 12 months on? That pick is now needed to land us Dylan ****in Shiel. Who knows next year or what we'll need? Kelly will probably be available for starters.

I think a first and second-rounder will get it done. Maybe pick 9 and next year's second rounder, with a bit of other horse trading.
