With the Giants possibly looking to move up to #4 in the draft, the chances of us getting two first rounders for Joe will be diminishing.
5 & Papley suits me just fine.
i like the amount of campaigner he brings.

Paps, Dev, Redman - very nice.

The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of a 2020 first rounder. Do we expect the swans to slide even more than they did this year? On a whim? I do.
To be honest a 2020 first makes the most sense as we have 2 x academy players so we will just stockpile second rounders with trades from this year (jones Cameron etc). Prob swap our pick 25 for Carlton future second so they can on trade to Suns. We then have mutiple seconds and thirds and Essendon don't get screwed.

I was anti-Papley but I've turned a corner. Where do we get our key forward from though.
I was keen for Howard with Hooker forward.
I was keen on Ben King but that now seems very unlikely even next year.
Not so keen on Jenkins.
Is there a young/er KPF?

The sticking point in all of this is we currently have 2 x 2019 second rounders.

Someone needs to rate this draft better than next year and hope they take 1/2 of our 2019 second rounders.

I still can't believe we haven't thrown our hat into the ring for Josh Bruce. The sticking point for us would probably be the 4 years which would take him to 31 years of age. Something we tend not to do.

Just came across this in a group on fb.. no idea if it's real but it looks pretty legit to me??? what do you reckon about dyl buckley to the bombers?
Dyl is a serial piss taker. I’d say he’d be doing this for a laugh. His AFL career is done

I am semi relieved that Howard picked the Saints, it doesn’t mean I don’t like him but it would add to the same existing selection headache we had this year which was too many key defenders vying for not enough spots. He’s not moving from one club to another to stay depth, he’d want games, I doubt he gets them in our backline and I’m not sure on him as a forward.

Bit of an awkward timeline too with Hooker and Hurley both continuing to play at a high level at this stage (although I suspect not for that much longer) and Cody Brand available next year to us as a big defender.

Bonar more of a mid/fwd than a fed/mid

I disagree, his performance in the exhibition game that pushed him up the draft and his best glimpses at AFL level have been up forward. I think his reputation as inside mid has been based on his size not on his craft. Wins it okay but just throws it on the boot in tight.

Now, back to that key forward we desperately need. In another universe far far away, is it inconceivable to think we go into 2020 with the same stocks as 2019? (minus Joe of course)

In another universe, Joe didn't request a trade and the drugs saga never happened. Why oh why doesn't that Essendon team exist in THIS universe.
