It's been engineered that the only way dodo can trade daniher and save face is if a player comes in with the picks.

We know dodo likes to save face. Reckon it needs to be a player who hasn't come of age yet so dodo can claim he will be a great addition soon.. maybe a Bonar type is is untapped but ready

King re-signing. Lol at saints. They did force GC to pay overs to keep him.

But now Hill for next year's first and some.

We offered GWS a 1st and a 2nd originally for Shiel but eventually Dodo had to give 2 x 1sts last minute as they wouldn't relent

Payback this year.

If Carlton deal 9 to Brisbane for 16 and 21.
16 and a future 2nd (Swans need future picks for 2020 academy kids) for Papley and 54
21 gets the Blues Jack Martin

We get 5 and 16 and a fringe player (Clarke or Thurlow?) for Joey Jo Jo
Cutler for 33 with 52 coming back to us (to go to Adel for Jenkins)

Take Kemp at 5 - offload 16 and 31 for a future 1st from the Saints or Dogs who NEED PICKS now.

Make do with Jenkins,Stewart,Smack,Hooker at FF

Hopefully Brand has a stellar 2020 as he could play either end like Franga.

Tom Phillips name keeps coming up. No idea how we’d manage it right now but he’d be a good Zaharakis replacement next offseason.

Thoughts on 5 & 25 that is allegedly being offered according to Lloyd?

I think it depends on what the medical team think of Joe's injuries and mental state.
If he's likely to struggle with injuries again in 2020 and mentally REALLY wants out, it's a pretty good offer to take imo.
If Essendon are confident he'll get on the park next year and is happy to stay, then hold on to him.

No way Sydney give up a young promising player like Heeney, Rowbottom, Blakely etc...but might be able to on-trade 25 for Bonar. And even get creative and break up pick 5 and on-trade the picks for mature players...not much time now though.

5 & 25 is well under. And I believe EFC have flat out refused that.

A player will need to be involved to get the trade done for sure.

Can cop the argument that you won't do it for 5 & 25 but i wouldn't say that's 'well under' for a guy who's barely played the last 2 years. It's a reasonable offer, not great, but reasonable. As i mentioned, i think a lot hinges on whether the medical staff think he'll get back to his best next year or struggle with injuries again.

Essendon need to convince a player to join them first, Sydney can't forcibly trade a player. I reckon your best shot of getting a player is to trade for the Sydney picks and then somehow use those picks to get players from other clubs.

Eg what about taking 5 & 25, then trading 25 for Bonar and next year's second rounder for SPP? Something like that.

It’s well under for a guy who is medically sound. And well over for one whose career is ending. Should tell you something about where both clubs think Joe’s career and body are at.

Our best chance of getting a player is a) for that player to simply be Daniher or b) To now use the next 12 months to talk to other players about being the Daniher replacement - rather than simply rushing around trying to find the best available player anywhere that's happy to come to us on 3 days notice.
That's why I think you'll see Essendon decline offers that neutrals might think is fair.

Even if next years draft is supposedly compromised with father son and academy players?

I'm no expert on the kids but next year doesn't sound too promising.
I meant in that there are more OOC key forwards next year, having 2 next year helps our trade hand.
