That tells me he had it the hardest of those players.

So we wait to have a forward line until we have a decent midfield. Then when we get a decent midfield do we try to draft forwards?

Forwards take until their mid-20's to develop. If we draft one and wait for them to develop like we did with Stewart, we're 6-8 years away.

Midfielders are so much easier to draft/develop than key position forwards it's ridiculous.

Plus, if we don't already have midfielders, who the hell are all these people on our list? We don't have any forwards and only a few backs.

I don't understand how "Don't trade for a good key forward because our midfield isn't top 4" is any form of strategy.

You can't fill every hole in the team with draft picks who might come good in 3 years. Which team went rocketing up the ladder this year? Port Adelaide off the back of bringing in Charlie Dixon with a trade. Brisbane brought in Charlie Cameron and Lachie Neale despite also drafting lots of good young small players.

I never thought it would be hard to convince supporters that the guy who kicked the most goals in the last 4 years would be good for the team.

Dodoro can't win. No wonder he drafts skinny flankers, you all complain about key position players like we don't need them unless our midfield is already the best in the competition.
question on Brown is what does he cost? And if he's worth more than Wright, then Wright is probably a better option.

Any top 30 pick we have this year and our 1st and 2nd next year need to be off limits unless we're adding proven, top quality mids who can play the engine room roles.

Agree with what you say about the picks which would put Brown out of our price range IMO.

What's more important? A player who might shade our youngsters for a couple of years or a player who should feasibly be around for 8 years?

I know which I'd prefer

We regularly see players from bottom sides kicking high numbers of goals, because they're the only avenue their team has for scoring. Better teams have more avenues, there's a reason Clarkson made Hawthorn less reliant on Franklin after he won the Coleman, and it wasn't because Franklin was washed up.

But sure, lets top up - yet again - with another stop gap player, not achieve anything - yet again - and be wondering why we haven't won a final for another year - yet again.

Port Adelaide traded for Dixon five years ago, when he was 25. Brown will be 28 to begin the 2021 season, and a totally different player to Dixon.

You know what's sent them rocketing up the ladder? A strong midfield, and a couple of strong drafts.

We've got holes all over the field, trading a few decent picks and spending some cash on Brown doesn't fix them.

and a few posts suggesting to get Anthony Miles.

He's retired, would come cheap.

All the last 5 pages is missing is 20 posts from WEEVES and a few posts suggesting to get Anthony Miles.

Brisbane would 100% do this. Absolutely.
Would you? The reason I ask is because I know Hipwood has had a down year this year, a stutter in his trajectory, but he was tracking to be a really good forward over 2018 and 2019. Still young. Plenty of upside.

We are not getting any Brisbane players in return. They won’t trade for Daniher they will pick him up as a free agent if he decides to leave.

Why would Brisbane make that trade? Is Michael Voss their list manager? We'd be charged with theft and the AFL wouldn't let it go ahead, it's that bad.

Archie smith?
we're ok for rucks and Martin is starting to get a little injury prone

Draper, Phillips, Bryan, Crauford is enough depth for me.

Engine room should be our focus. and HBF ironically enough.

EDIT: thought you were asking about Archie
Imagine Ely would fit a needs profile

Ah. So you were being sarcastic and abrasive. I should have known. It's your signature style. Put me on ignore.

Haha, I'm just genuinely curious as to why you think Brisbane would make that trade? A 23 year old they have contracted for 3 more years for an un-contracted player who would be 27 before round 1 who has barely got on the park in the last 3 years.

Yeap would love Ely although no one is really sure how much he has developed in the system yet without playing a game.

I've developed a software package that has analyzed our list and prioritizes needs:

10 Print "Fix the midfield"
20 GOTO 10

Dude cmon hipwood. Anyone could see Kakkles sarcasm... shoes in other camp, would you want to give up hippers if you were a lions fan?
We’d be lucky to get late first rounder pick from them. Hope he doesn’t nominate them.
