I honestly have a feeling Bruest is gone. I think now the hawks realise he is a good chance to go home. that leaves gws or swans.
GWS i would prefer due to talent, huge amount of picks (which you don't need lets be honest) and what you guys offered last time around. (2x first rounders)
Do you guys have academy players you need points for?

Rules have changed for the academies btw. But a first for Breust is doable. As long as the Hawks pay a percentage of his wage

is 0% alright? still a %% ;)
you guys could give up picks, you don't need them anymore. only mature bodies.
I've posted on your hypotheticals board possibly of acquiring Bruest and I hope we can. Baulked at the suggestion he is worrh Kelly and Williams.
One argument I cannot abide is trades are or should be affected by our position re talent. Frankly I'd expect a Hawks supporter to be last to use the the argument we have more toys and therefore should give some away, which your post feels a bit like. That wont happen.
I've always beleived facing reality and dealing with it is strength of yoir club going back a long way.
I would expect hard bargaining based on the fact both clubs will act in their own interests.
Seems the common view is high first rounder for Bruest and I hope something can be worked out.
My view is he's a great small forward who can add defensive pressure which our list manager has said is a priority for us in trade week. The fact he comes out of your system is a bonus and I'd assume he would be a good influence at our club.

What else would we have to give up if we were to include Stewart and Pickett in the Marchbank trade?
I have a feeling we might get better value for Pickett, if he wants to go, from WA clubs. They always like their own. Lot of ifs there.
Wonder if Stewart could be the sweetener to get your first rounder for Marchbank? Think that appears more likely.

Doubt Stewart would be the sweetener. Pretty sure I saw one of your guys rating him as a 3rd rounder. If it was Marchbank and Steele, then we'd be talking about pick 5 being involved. I'd probably prefer we keep it though and get McGrath/Brodie/SPS.

Fair enough, I dont disagree with round 3 estimate. He's still young but hasn't delivered at AFL level when given a number of chances so far. Steele might be an option.
Lòoking at your picks, there's some chance the Marchbank trade could get ugly, but I hope not. He's chosen to go and I hope he has a long and successful career at Carlton. With the SOS link and I think general trading goodwill the negotions will hopefully come up with a acceptable solution.

Yeah I feel SOS is more in the Wells and Wright mold of understanding where negotiations are rational and considered. He's not gonna stuff around with some Dodoro tomfoolery.

Lol, Hawks want to push him out like Suckling and Shaw pushed out of Collingwood!

Small forwards who can consistently kick 45 plus goals each year and apply defensive pressure do not grow on trees. So I am hoping Hawks keep Bruest.

However - IF he was to be traded, then GWS would seem like a good fit, based on both needs and his family origins.

What could GWS offer? Kelly is very good but you have loads of talented mids. Tomlinson looks promising but hasn't really cemented a spot in your best 22 until recently. Hopper could be a gun but is still unproven.
Personally I would hesitate at a straight swap for any of them, but two together could be worth more than Bruest.

What go GWS fans think might be a fair trade?

Kelly and/or Hopper for Breust even with steak knives?

Kelly is worth more than Bruest, Hopper would roughly be a straight swap and Bruest is worth more than Tomlinson.

All three are best 22 and no need to trade so would be unlikely to be used in any trade unless they told the Giants they want out.

The Giants have plenty to trade outside of best 22 players. Stewart, Steele, WHE and or picks.

Steele/WHE and 18 might be about the mark.

Geelong got Dangerfield and pick 50 and gave up picks 9,28 and Dean Gore.

There's a starting point.

I would say straight swap Breust for pick 7 is fair. If you paid a fair chunk of his salary we may throw in Stewart with him.

Will a 2016 and 2017 second Rd pick be enough to get Marchbank?

How different is he to James Aish that was taken at 7 by Lions but was then traded for two second Rd picks

Apart from talent, not much difference

Probably not in such an even draft year.

But I'm not on the list management team!
Yeah, probably not. We're after the two highly rated Academy boys, one good medium forward (via trade) and maybe any other Academy player. We're stacked with midfielders and defenders. We'll lose 4-5 players as expected, but decent compensation will allow us get in good players.

Greetings GWS folk!
Loved the way your lads have gone about it this year, excellent brand of footy and really exciting to watch.

I've been watching Josh Kelly since he got drafted pretty closely, and would love him at the Tigers.
Is he an untouchable in your opinion?

If we floated a trade in the shape of pick 6 this year and Ben Lennon/Brandon Ellis for Josh Kelly, would that be looked at as fair? Just trying to get an idea of what GWS fans would consider fair market value at this stage of his career?
