Trade McGovern or Barrass

Can someone please explain the concept of opportunity cost to the OP? (I'm not smart enuff too)
That's the point of this thread. Take away McGovern's salary and replace it with an inside mid on that same salary (assuming same quality), would WC be a better team with McGovern or with the inside mid instead?

Collingwood midfield still has Adams and Crisp to win contested ball but yes their midfield would be weak like WC without those 2. Bulldogs not a good comparison as they have a billion mids who can win contested ball - Libba, Smith, Dunkley etc. GWS has Ward, Hopper and Kelly still so doubt Cogs and Taranto being out would affect them that much.
Bulldogs have a billion mids? **** me that’s more mids than people in the Southern Hemisphere probably.
How do they fit them all in under the salary cap?

I think trading Gaff would be more logical. Plenty of Victorian clubs who miss the 8 marginally would want him and say if we finish in the 5-8 bracket we could have two picks fairly close together we could use or trade for a higher pick. Possibly Brander too possibly, his value would rise considerably after this season I think.

This week will be interesting for these 2. Since the 2018 GF they've shat the bed against Collingwood a couple of times so I'll have them, dare I say it, "under notice".

NO not going to happen. What we need are some more decent mids, a new jet off half back and another smaller defender who can play tall if need be. Not going to happen unless we find some diamonds in the rough in the draft.
tbh we dont even need much of that. we just need a new coach that can come up with a game plan and instill some confidence into the team.

This isnt the west coast that beat port by 90 pts.

SIMMO HAS LOST THE CONFIDENCE OF THE TEAM.

I know Nic Nat was on the Def 50 when Goldy took that mark, but did anyone see where McGovern was!!! Standing 10 meters in front of that pack by himself...

The days of playing on nobody are gone Gov.

His coach allows him to do it and he has no repercussions for doing it.

Gold Coast would ask for Gov in a heartbeat we can pay part of his wage for them for a few seasons.

Maybe should offer them Naitanui as well given he will have more chance to win a flag there than at WC. Naitanui+McGovern for their first and second pick?

It's early in the year, but Barrass is playing far better

Barrass has had the most goals kicked against him for any key position back in the top 10 sides this year

He is unfit has no second efforts, his conditioning is poor so he trails his opponent.

He spends a lot of time on the bench for a key back.

We should trade him, no one wants McGovern his salary is way too high even GC are not that silly

I think Richmond would be a good fit for Gov. A top 10 pick in return would be fair I think. Barrass has to stay imo.
Nobody would trade for McGovern given the salary he is sitting on.
