So we now have a dedicated Tom Boyd thread:

http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/boyd-rage-all-your-pick-1-trade-discussions-go-here.1017698/

I sense that people are getting a bit annoyed by the continued chat about chasing GWS's #1 pick so perhaps avoid that thread if you are one of them!

"YYEEEAAAAAAAH BOYYYYYYYYYD!!!"

Pick 5 + Polec/Karnezis for Roughead + Savage/Hawk's first-rounder?

Or if the club is smart and keeps their finger on the pulse with other club movements, perhaps pick 5 could have very high trade currency (to a club that may want it to package in with a deal to scoop Boyd).

Opting out of the royal rumble for Boyd and trading "down" pick 5 for several lower first-round picks or for some established players (or combination of such) might be a wise move and quite profitable given the circumstances of a likely meltdown with clubs going apesh#t at trying to move up in the draft order or adding assets to make a run at GWS/Boyd.

FFS, it's been stated many times in this thread and even in the thread title - trade hypothetical free zone.

Jarryd Roughead signed a new 2 year deal for the Hawks this year and is now contracted until the end of 2016. As for Shane Savage his name has been thrown up by many Clubs at the moment and his value would be high. What would the Lions offer the Hawks for Shane Savage?

Now the Hawks on the other hand need a young small defender/half back flanker type player with a bit a of pace. What sort of pick or player's would the Lions want for a player like Mitch Colby? I'm not saying Colby will leave Lions per say, just that he seems like the type of player we should be chasing.

I'd rather keep pick 5 for a quality mid if we can't get pick 1 ourselves. We need top talent in forward and mids, if we can't get one we need to get the other. We've traded in Lisle and Martin recently, along side drafting Close and Paps and we also have Longer who will fit in up forward in the future. Whilst a top talent key forward is always good, I think we have the tools with that group going forward to kick goals. Assuming we can develop a competitive midfield. Also add in Rog to that equation and I think we can use the talls we have. I like the idea of getting a key defender, it will help refresh our aging defense which will require attention in the coming years.

We've shown we aren't affraid to go for the big name, but if we can't get it, we look for value. I think there is good value in our current talls, and taking a top mid in the draft, maybe trade for a defender.

Colby's a bit cheesy, but the cream will rise as I'm sure you know.

Or is that milking it too much?

FFS, it's been stated many times in this thread and even in the thread title - trade hypothetical free zone.

Sorry, I thought it was just no Boyd talk.

I can't see how any trade talk thread could be absent of any hypotheticals...unless we are talking about trades in the past? As in all future trading or trade talk is of the hypothetical sense ;)

Perhaps a better thread title would be no silly dream trades. I thought the pick 5 for Roughy trade idea was a realistic one.... Thanks to the Hawthorn poster who advised that Roughy was signed and contracted which counts that one out.

You can have Franklin for free if you want! :p

What about Shane Savage for Ryan Harwood in a straight swap?

The problem is that one man's silly dream trade is another man's serious suggestion,

You will be glad there is a separate hypothetical trade thread come trade time (especially when professional flogs like UpTheGuts make their annual pilgrimage). Most people just want to see the real stuff.

Sorry, was a bit aggressive there. My apologies.

I can probably count on the fingers of one hand the number of trade suggestions on this board that are actually realistic.

I fully understand people like to propose trades, but to many of us it's just pointless. I do agree though the line between talking about player value and then proposing an actual trade is a fuzzy one.

There is a difference between these two posts:

"We need a key forward. Some of the guys we need to consider enquiring about are Tarrant and Watts."

vs

"How about this? Tarrant for Karnezis plus a swap of 2nd round picks."

I know that the difference is only slight but the trade hypothetical thread worked really well last year. For whatever reason (because the proposed trades are generally unlikely, because people don't like feeling like our players mentioned as trade bait, because they tend to cause fights), trade hypotheticals really annoy many people.

Separating out the hypothetical trade from general discussion doesn't stop people playing list manager on this board. But it isolates that discussion to one thread so that the people who don't like it don't have to read it and the people who do like it can have the discussion without people getting pissed off at them."

Two more points to add to the above:

1. Moving posts from one thread to another is really difficult on this software. So, we'll just be deleting trade hypotheticals.

2. Please report a post which contains a hypothetical because then we don't have delete all the posts that quote/mention the offending post.

.

We need some new Software.

What is some of the tradeable software out their that will be available? Please no hypotheticals though.

Wow, a trade talk thread that deletes talk about trade suggestions.
If you are having difficulties understanding the differences between the different trade talk threads that we have, what goes in each and the reasons why we might have separated them, then maybe those threads aren't for you.

I'm sorry I didn't know that the brisbane board are for 'clique' members only.

Trade suggestion thread is elsewhere. There's a difference between who to trade and what trades to do. One annoys a lot of people who want to talk about trading players when three quarters of posts are about what picks to swap and what deals to do.

I'm sorry I didn't know that the brisbane board are for 'clique' members only.

What clique is that? The "users who post in the appropriate thread" clique? Not exactly the Freemasons is it...

Anybody have any thoughts on Cooney as a free agent target? Could add some depth to our midfield and half forwards with Black finishing up either this year or next and he would provide some cover while some of our younger talent develops. His knee seems to be doing a lot better and if he were to cost us nothing I don't see why we wouldn't pick him up.

Would you guys take a second rounder for Savage? I'd be happy to offer that personally.

Golby I don't think you guys could/would want to get (he'd be too pricey in terms of the clubs value on him), but I think Voss would be open to trading Harwood for the right offer. He has a lot of fans on here and he might like the fact he could head home a few times a year for your Tassie games. Would a straight swap work or do you guys value Savage very highly?

As much as I like Harwood, a Savage/Harwood swap would make a bit of sense. We have a bit of an excess of small/running defenders (even if many of us would like to see Harwood move up into the midfield more) and you guys have quite a few guys of Savage's type, while we both need more players of their respective types. Both would be ready to go at their respective clubs. It's an interesting one.

Where's Cheney at? I don't know why Melbourne let go of him as he seems like the kind of guy Melbourne need atm, very tough and by all reports has been close to breaking into your side many times this year. He's not as bullocking as Harwood but couldn't he hypothetically play a similar role?

EDIT: I don't think this is too much of a hypothetical, more discussion between two club supporters about two certain players. If it's not meant to be here please let me know POBT
