Thoughts on what we'd have to offer for pick ten ? Think we're a better chance in obtaining that pick with a solid trade rather than going balls deep for pick one. This way we could easily get two quality midfielders and really set ourselves up for the future (our 08 draft has shown how much one quality year of drafting can do to the club - Rich/Rockliff/Redden etc) or even one midfielder and one tall who we has either dropped down or moved up the rankings.

Banfield and Acorn while i see some upside to them should be put up for trade as they are being wasted in the ressies. Would someone like the Bulldogs trade for them?

I
I'd be surprised to see GWS trade the number one pick to be honest.

You don't think cash talks? Ask Tippett and Clark to see if it makes a difference.
Both were already on the move and just took the offer. Which ever club takes Boyd will have him locked for a long time.

Great post mate. Yep, only trade players who have made up their mind that they want to leave or aren't required. Good mantra :thumbsu: Let's not trade talented players who want to stay in Brissy.
No way we'll get him in two years though :(

Never say never, i would never have picked that Clark would have went to Melbourne.

If we could snag a defender from another team (any Fremantle defenders out of contract?) and keep Merrett up forward when Brown retires that would get us through until either the others develop or we pinch one from someone else and we don't have to upset team harmony to get there.

Maybe our 2nd rounder + Cornelius to either Dogs or Saints for their 2nd rounder? That's the sort of trade I see us trying to pull with Acorn. Not sure anyone would trade anything for Banfield.

Luke Delaney from the Kangaroos could easily be a big key defender we pick up. And we'll be in the exact same situation in two years where we'll need to trade quality to get quality and sacrifice loyal players. Completely agree with the rest of the post :thumbsu:

There is a chance that one of Close, Michael or Lisle will have developed into a decent KF in those years. Merrett forward buys us some more development time.

Luke McGuane is someone I would suspect the Lions will make a play for, besides Buddy and Daisy.

Not a big rap for McGuane myself. I think Delaney would be a better option.

Roughhead is a far better value bet than Buddy, can play ruck, back or forward. buddy is well and truly overpriced with the offers being talked about. Most talk down here says Buddy will stay which probably means his already gone.

Daisy while good has major injury concerns.

I agree, but he is from QLD, is non-contracted I believe and he has played some all right footy this year. Just seems it might be the option the Lions will pursue if the Buddy/Boyd/who ever else they have in mind trade falls through. I'm just curious in who the Lions are targeting as they seem almost certain that they will use 100% of the cap this year, and none of that will be in current contracts but luring a player from another club instead. They must surely know that Buddy won't come here if he is offered $6m from GWS.

And after seeing how valuable Reid can be up forward I think the Pies would be hoping Keefe can slot in down back relatively soon.

Harry O might be on the move would he suit? Seems a little too sensitive for mine. Can't see Keefe going, but you never know.

Your not the first to mention it in the past week or two, but out of curiosity, where has the talk of Brennan coming back to the Lions come from?

Is he wanting a return or has somebody said something I have missed?

He played well. That is all.

Need to get Lachie Keefe from Collingwood. Can play back, forward, ruck and is around 200cm tall. He has been named Collingwood best player in the vfl side in the past two games.

Yep... the cold man of Collingwood...Jack Frost... 194cm key defender has pace, He's quick

Was doing a good job of it last year before he was struck down by injury. Not sure if he has not played in the earlier part of the year due to still recovering it but is now tearing it up for the Pies VFL side down back I am fairly sure.
