Trade Talk 2013 - Yeo, Doc, Polec, Karnezis, Longer gone - Welcome Paine, West, Magwon!

Weak trading by us imo. Every deal favoured the other clubs and some were just down right ridiculous. Docherty for pick 33 was ridiculous, as was Longer for 25 and a 7 pick upgrade in the third round, both those clubs had higher picks. I am disappointed that we did not send players to the PSD but rather just caved in, it shows weakness for future trading and clubs now know that they can take our young players for little value.

Also I am not too excited over Jackson Paine and have never really rated his AFL potential unfortunately. He seems undersized, an average athlete and has no standout attributes that will make him a good third tall. In saying that it was worth it to get rid of that soft**** Karnezis.

Menzel from Carlton, Steven from St Kilda, and errr, Yeo from Eagles?

I believe Jack Darling and Josh Kennedy are out of contract at the end of next season.

Tom Lee will come to the end of his two year contract (I assume). The Saints have invested a significant draft pick and (by then) a couple of years in getting him up to AFL level, so of course we'd only need to offer pick #25 for him.

What a disaster this trade period has been to us...lets put no gloss on it

So any player who doesn't like it up here will now feel that they can threaten us and walk away to the club of their choice? and we facilitate this madness??

I think Mayes will walk at the end of next year for peanuts too...why not, he has seen first hand how it is done

most opposition clubs find us a joke now to deal with

the perfect storm for the Lions....and it will get worse, much worse

Just got back from a month in Africa with no internet. Just found out that Hawthorn won the GF, Buddy is a Swan, Leppa is the coach and that we have traded out a bunch of players for mostly unders. I think I am glad I have been away as that trade period looks like it would have been too depressing

Wait until you read the EGM / Pinskier thread.;)

New coach and board will be seeking to remedy this. What more can be done at this stage? Action has been taken, and there was no helping this strade period, which was going to be harm minimisation only. Now all we can do is wait to see what our new leadership group can do.

What would you have had us do, force them all into the PSD and get a big fat 0 in return? And how would that help us to keep Mayes and others next year?

Settle, Eeyore. It's not a great moment in time for the club, but giving up on guys before they've even been asked to sign a contract, might be jumping the gun a touch.

Very happy with the addition of Paine. More so for his burgeoning skills, but also to see how long James North can stay inventive with the pain/Paine analogies.

Found myself fondly humming Que Sera last night after watching Carlton's 'new recruit' interview with Docherty. If anyone was lacking the personality juice for Liondom, well....

What about this trade:

Out: Yeo, Longer, Polec, Docherty, Karnezis
In: The mother of all Salary Cap allowances to attract and retain players

We'll get ours back.....and we wont be feasting on prospects with a handful of games

So we have five spots and seven draft picks. What do we do with picks 34 and 41? Do we trade up at any cost or do we delist a couple more guys? Do we become the first team ever to pass at pick 34?

I have to agree with this. I am left with the impression that maybe Kerr was going through the motions on his way out the door.

Hard to see that his position is tenable after this:

1. He makes the decision to recruit them
2. He does not get any of them re-signed
3. He trades them for 50 cents on the dollar
