Hamish McIntosh

What has he injured? He was restricted to walking and light jogging around the oval for all of the 30 mins or so I saw today.

Offtopic.. Can someone who regularly watches Norths training, tell me whether Gerard Fitzgerald is regularly involved at training at Arden St?

cheers,
ons.

Some small observations from todays training. Wells is burning the track. Michael Stevens is the best long kick l have seen in a while, definately has grown in confidence since last year and will get under the guard of a lot of teams. D. Motlop is showing a lot more maturity and definately will have a huge year if doesn't get injured. First time l really seen Trotter carefully. Will be a definate leader, has the smarts and skills. Will be a 200 game player. Needs to get fitter and stronger, give him 2 years. Overall the players appear fit and bigger bodied. Was very impressed with Shannon Watt. His looked fantastic in all the drills, l'm pretty sure he will be a lot lot better than last year. His kicking has definately improved out of sight. Personally l think he could play as a Kouta type ruck-rover role this year, in patches anyway. l think it will be hard to pick our senior side this year, which would indicate that our list is getting stronger. l thick this year will be a year we show that the roos are going to be a force again, especially next year.

Thanks people.. hopefully Watt does better this year.. and MStevo makes his mark..

M Stevo is an interesting one. I don't think anyone had him in their starting 18. He finished off last year in good form using the ball really well of half back. Has to compete with Rawlings, Sinclair and the Skull if he plays in defence, so our depth is pretty good. Also highlights how expendable Teaguey was. All of the current group give more run out of defence.

Somewhat hijacking the thread, but what do you think about Kingy this year? He wouldn't want to cruise with the extra competition around. I still think we need his leadership, but I'm not sure where he's best suited. Kicked some memorable goals last year, but we also have Harding, Jones, Junior, J Clayton, Grant etc. I don't think that he's defensive enough to play on the wing and it's hard to find a spot in defence. Thoughts?

Just as I hate to say it with Stevo, I hate to say I think Kingy should come off the bench... :(

I love Stevo- but we cannot hold Harro back any longer.. he has to start in the midfield.. he can kick some almighty butt in there.. and he is hardly going to replace Simmo is he? - the other bloke that Harro is competing with. Stevo is so suited to the midfield.. and honestly- I would love to have him in there.. but its a matter of finding a spot.. and I am not really sure how to do that:(

Kingy- he came off the bench and kicked 6 in one game- I can't remember what game it was- but he will be good as a pinch hitter- and if we don't use him as a pinch hitter- then put him down back. It depends on his HBF run- if he can give us the running that he has given us so tremendously in past years - then I would have no quarrels with having him in the backline.. but in the past 2 years.. those runs have become less common from our good Kingy:(

MStevens will put himself in our starting 18 this year IMO.. contrary to Port Supporters opinion- he was actually pretty decent in the games he played- a pity he was injured so much - so we didn't get to see much of him. 04 will be a year for him to establish himself- a wing would suit him, with his pace and long kicking.

Thanks for the reports people!

Does anyone here know the training times and venues for this week??

Today was Arden St 8Am

And Wednesday is McHale Stadium at 8AM

One presumes that they aren't our only training sessions- but the club website doesn't have the others..

Just wondering Cam Crognale, how many marks did Corey
Mc Kernan drop, or did you lose count after you'd used all your fingers and toes!? Ha Ha. We got Digby and Teague, you got Corey.................................SUCKERS!!!!!

Forgot to mention earlier that l think J. Clayton has not put a foot wrong at training, he looks to have added strength and size to his little frame. His ball use is fantastic, not to mention his work in close. He has a great footy brain.

Kingy in my opinion will spend a little more time on the pine, but is definately in our best 22. l have always prefered seeing Kingy play the sweeping free defender. He tends to straighten up the team. He reads the play brilliantly and uses the ball well. Occasionly l would like to see him go forward as well.

l think our trump card this year will be D. Hale. A week ago at training he tore Le Cras apart in 5 minutes. His put on a lot of size, don't be surprised if Laidley uses him in the forward line as a 3rd marking option beside Drew. With the occasional run in the ruck. His a very strong mark, and looks a lot more confident within himself.

You really must feel proud. You have had what, a few training sessions from Digby & Teague? We have had 47 goals from Digby.. and many a courageous mark from Teague.

However, I would prefer Corey- he has given us alot more service.. and will give us great service this year.

Cam- the herald sun said Jeremy has put on 4 (?) kgs.. which supporters what you have seen. I reckon he will be very good for us this year - and I don't think SHarvey will push him out of the side as easy as some people seem to think..

Hale sounds brilliant:D

Did you see LeCras today- how'd he go?

Next time look under 'C' for the 124 board will you.

Chrisvu; not the most intellegent comment I have heard today..

A lot of people really dont understand the levels on reasoning on why we traded these two fringe players for Corey McKernan; what some may see as a risky gamble on an aging player.

But i believe there are a number of levels in depth to this trade;
- Digby Morrell and David Teague were not going to fit into the team under Dean Laidley's game plan which would require Teague, as much as i respect his courage, to become a much more running half backman which he is not. And Digby Morrell as well as he can tuyrn a game (Bulldogs Rd 15) he did not fit into our forward line structure and simply got in the way of Rocca and Petrie.

- Corey will be the perfect 'stepping stone' for the development of Hale and McIntosh not to be rushed, allowing them to ease into the roles of Ruck and Full Forward.

- After SPiders injuries in 2003, Petrie and Brown were sacraficed in key positions to play in the ruck, with McKernan Petrie and Brown are able to hold down their roles.

And on a deeper level;
- McKernan creates a great role model on field for Hamish McIntosh, a young extremely exciting tall full forward, who can learn A LOT from Corey being at the club.

So Chrisvu, your irrelevent disruptive comment simply made yourself look like an uneducated child and hopefully you now understand how we as a club feel we benifited from the trade.
