Jog on Colby. I'm giving the benefit of the doubt to the poster who is taking time out of their lives, getting sunburnt and then reporting back to us here. They didn't have to do this and their efforts are appreciated.

It was a crap drill. We move on.
Oh **** off campaigner. You can't make that call if you didn't see it and you don't understand the purpose of it.

It isn’t that deep mate.

A group of 7-8 of them went on the far wing, stood 5m apart and kicked it back and forth for 5 mins. It was confusing to watch, if it was a legit drill I’m not sure what elite level footballers would gain from it, but it could have just been a group that were sat out of the other drills and went and done something instead of standing around. No Mayo, genuinely something you’d see at Auskick/u10’s and a weird thing to see at this level.

The rest of the sessions I’ve been to this pre season have been some of the more impressive sessions I’ve seen in person from our group in years. I wasn’t suggesting that it was an issue, just strange to watch. I’m sure it will pick back up Friday after blowing out the cobwebs yesterday, I’ll be there again I shall let you know 😉.
The key point is you were confused. Perhaps a bit of sunstroke.

As for whether that one drill defined the whole session, perhaps you could go ask Clarko on Friday whether he thought the session was just a slow ease in or whether he is really happy with the state the players came back and how well they performed.

Oh * off campaigner. You can't make that call if you didn't see it and you don't understand the purpose of it.
The only call I'm making is not to have a proper crack at people providing valuable training reports. If you go too hard, they might be inclined to stop.

If you disagree with their take, keep it to yourself.

To be perfectly honest, I wasn't even all that troubled by the original poster who took the effort to go to training and write up a report, even if he/she was confused by one drill. What bugged me was the second sad sack Captain Bringdown who decided based on this one drill that the session must have been a write-off. We have a great future yet there are far too many negative people out there who seem to prefer to wallow in pessimism.

We arguing about drills now?

Next we gonna argue about where the water bottles should be positioned.

I actually thought it was dawson, wil dawson
Nope. He has a different haircut.

so this problematic drill lasted 5 minutes. If they had stood around and done nothing for 5 minutes would you be complaining ? Talk about nitpicking.

Couldn't give a fat rats tossbag what drills they do.

They would all in some way no matter how stupid we think they are serve a purpose even if just to keep warm for a minute.

They can all stand on their heads in the corner and fart their boots off for all i care if it means we will start winning games.

Not at all what I'm hearing. One person who didn't understand the purpose of a single drill doesn't make for a bad session.

Turn it up Snrubs. You can’t make that call either from what you’re “hearing” seeing as you “didn’t see” training. :stern look

Sorry to intrude but please keep up the training reports. There are plenty of us that can't get enough of them in the off season for our club and others.

They are greatly appreciated by many that don't comment. You can inject Brayden George updates direct into my veins. Can't wait to see him play some footy.

Norths midfield mix is as tantalising as any in the AFLs. Hawks similar. A logjam of young talent. Which players have the flexibility to play elsewhere. Over analysing that mix from 2km time trial results and who is training with which groups is pure preseason joy. I'll stop as I'm blathering but thanks again to the track watchers and all the posters that provide player/club insights. 🙏

I have the midfield mix as follows

Simpkin - 25 - can play forward and wing

LDU - 24 - centre square mid only

Thomas - 23 - can play forward. Seems a 50/50 whether he is at north next year.

Scott - 23 - wing and half back flank

Stephens - 22 - fresh from Sydney, seems he will be a wingman if he cements a best 22 spot

Phillips - 21 - centre square mid only, plays low minutes due to fitness

Powell - 21 - versatile enough to play any third I think but will he do it well enough?

Wardlaw - 19 - centre square mid only, low minutes like Phillips

Sheezel - 19 can play any line on the ground

Mckercher - hasn’t played but I think he will be like Sheezel and play any third of the ground, with forward being least preferred. Likely to start off half back.

Then you have potential pinch hitters like Zuhaar, Curtis and Dursma

Ok, bugger not arguing about it. Let's argue. Where did I say that that one drill made the whole session a write off?

I care and I want them to practice their kicking 24/7! 😀. I won’t be able to cope with another season of watching every 2nd kick miss a target!

I have similar thoughts on Phillips. I don't like the midfield mix to be limited to mid only players. I prefer when you have the run of Thomas through the guts. I think one of Phillips or Powell or both might have to miss.

Any room for Lazarro? VFL numbers show he can get plenty of it, or was that not in the midfield?

I did miss Lazzaro.

He’s a good vfl player, turning into an elite vfl player.

His biggest problem is that he looks like a mid only and I just can’t see him making it indigent of any of the guys mentioned above. His last afl game against gold coast was easily his best game.

If you compare him to Phillips from the same draft, he’s miles ahead running ability but nowhere near the upside. Probably same with Powell. Unlikely to be at the club next year imo, but may be wrong.

I think you are actually supporting his point.

It could very well of been a cooldown kicking session, if there is one thing every footballer could be better at its kicking after running hard.

Could have been a warm down or something to keep moving while waiting for something else.

Probably a very simple explanation
