I actually think managing Nostrils is more like managing herpes (not that I have it). When there’s an outbreak (e.g. Hugh’s absence), apply a mild treatment (ignore). When the outbreak is over (Hugh has returned) it is safe to stop the treatment (unignore). Whilst it can be annoying and painful, ultimately it is not going anywhere so it is all about managing the outbreaks as they occur.
