Shan, the recent sessions were closed. This is what I didn't see before I wasn't kicked out...

Boekhorst -
Wasn't training. Rumour is he has been temporarily detained in America after Immigration officials mistook him for a Mexican.

E Curnow - Skipped the session to train with the WBD and SYD midfields. Bolts wanted to know once and for all if he really was good enough to be a premiership player.

Jones - As part of 'New Roles in 2017', Jones was consistently trialed in the backline. Sorry, damn auto-correct. Trailed, I meant Jones consistently trailed in the backline.

Rowe - was told with the recruitment of extra defenders, he would be thrown around the ground wherever needed, a spare-parts player. He rightly pointed out he doesn't even have all of his original parts, let alone spare.

Palmer - is being driven by the performances of Sarah Lampard from Melbourne. He desperately wants to be the best pick #135 ever to play AFL.

Korcheck - has been told he will get game time given Phillips' injury. Has pledged to Make Carlton Great Again.

A Silvagni - Has been nicknamed COS, but will be upgraded to SOS (Signal) if he gets a game, as it will mean our entire backline is injured.

Gallucci - SOS is really pissed off with him. Was at pains to explain that shoulder 'injuries' aren't supposed to be literal.

Davey - has proved to the admin that not all bulldogs recruits 'is spudz'.

Vescio/Arnell/Exon - Carlton recruiters have decided to recruit exclusively from the Darebin Falcons next year.

Hosking - Has reminded players what it was like when Kouta was playing - it's like there are two of her at the club.

Kennedy - feels good to have a J Kennedy from out West back on the list.

Men's game plan - We are well-prepared for the future direction of the game. In recent years, it looks like we have had no more than 16 players on the field most of the time.

Women's game plan - Have been told to keep playing like last week; with the constant hustling, bone-crunching tackling, effective linking, an impenetrable backline and a dangerous and open forward line. It was stressed how important they are as role-models......for the men's team.

just tell us what Daisy is up to!

Didn't see him.

My sources tell me if he attends more than 17 training sessions this year it will trigger another pre-season in his contract...

Ed himself said before Christmas that the big thing he is trying to improve on is decision making.

I believe he (rightly) doesn't have the faith in his kicking to make the quick correct decisions. He loops the ball with his kicking and they take a ****teenth too long to get to where they need to. I really don't think he can execute correct decision making because of his skill limitation. Priddis' kicking is the same, and he has the same problems with it. But he has fantastic creativity with his hands and positioning to overcome it. Which Ed doesn't.
I reckon if you think Curnow's disposal, particularly into the F50, didn't improve last year that you've not been watching our games.

He was hitting his passes flat when he needed to.

All this froth about Ed Curnow.

He is pretty straight forward to assess i reckon. He is an average mid with some strengths and probably a bit too many limitations. It won't take too much for guys like Cuningham, SPS, Charlie, Pickett and a few others to take his place.

Meanwhile Ed will continue ploughing along like the utter pro he is. He will run 5th or 6th or 9th in the B&F of a poorish side like many average mids before him have, because they are around the ball most. If the young guys push him out fairly quickly, it means we are improving. If they don't, then we are stagnating in mediocrity as a team.

I like Ed. Think he has been an asset to the Club and a badly needed good role model on bloody hard work. We have badly needed it. So i always hope he plays well. But he needs to be pushed out fairly quickly or it is a worrying sign of not being able to push our midfield past mediocrity.
I think to many are discounting Ed's performances. Sure he has his limitations and is not an A grader and also lacks polish and I'm sure he and the coaches are fully aware of this.
What Ed does is leave it all out on the field, he is the ultimate team player and plays his role for the team week in week out. His two way running is second to none and when playing a shut down role on highly rated mids, not only does he shut them down but also racks up possessions and can hurt them the other way. Each year he improves and is the consummate professional and it wasn't that long ago only a few seasons ago whereby he was leading our BnF until he collided with the goal post and injured his leg, yet still finished out the game only to have fractured or broken his leg.
Even though he may play in a side lacking in talent and depth he still plays on the leagues best mids and holds his own.
You can't also discount his professional approach and endeavour which on the training track leads by example and shows our young and highly talented kids what it is going to take to make it by his approach and high work rate.
I'm a huge fan of Ed and by the time some of our kids are ready to surpass him he can still offer either a depth type role or nearing the end of his career or even offer something to another club.
Whatever the future holds for Ed he is still one player that I rate and I hope he can achieve some success before his career ends.

Midfield coach Tim smith chatted on eonsportsradio yesterday. Does anyone know if the sound cloud file has been posted or shared. I can't find it anywhere. Just a tweet that refers to it. No link but.
