Thanks for all the posts today ansonholt really appreciate it.
Interested to hear how any of Tom Powell, Flynn Perez, Curtis Taylor and Kallan Dawson went today?

Powell looks great, but hard to say whether he has lifted his involvement, which is what we've been calling for.
Perez: didn't notice him much. but didn't see any mistakes or poor play either.
Taylor: was involved a lot both forward and back. Two way runner, on today's showing. Disposed of it well when he had it. Will surprise a few this year I think.
Dawson: yeah looks great. While Logue is doing rehab, will be able to hold down CHB I think. Or at least give it a shot. Seems to have grown in confidence compared to last year.

He's on a hiding to nothing with Jack.

Easiest approach is probably to give him a go early and let him rule himself in or out of selection.
Agree, I reckon he's got the first 3 or 4 games. I suspect, despite all his endeavour, it will be quite clear that the game has gone past him even more so than last year.

Dawson might find himself more important to our structure and also in our best 22 earlier on than both he and us may have thought with current niggles to Logue and especially Corr.

I think clarko will start with ziebs and Howe in the side - also Scott

In the nmfc BF Mount Rushmore - we have GR standing atop but you my good man is making a strong case to be added.

**** off.

Bigfooty Mount Rushmore is 4x giantroo plus a small carving off to the side of TAO thrashing one out on a webcam.

Contact and handball drills now. Phoenix has rejoined the main group. Drury's hands in close: nice.

Lazz looks good. Has obviously worked hard so far. Voices and intensity up now for the main group.

Logue still working separately but he's moving okay, so not sure why he's not with the main group.

Clarko has stopped proceedings for a moment to give the whole group some guidance on picking up and dishing off.

Kicking drills now. Clarko setting the standards for what he wants. Can't hear exactly what he's saying but he's in charge.
Logue coming off a lil OP at Freo.

For some reason whenever I read the name Powell in a pre-season thread, it takes me back to 2006. And like any red blooded Australian male, it makes me think of Australian Idol and the 2006 winner Damien Leith.
And thinking of Damien, makes me think the green hills of Ireland. Which then makes me think of Irish Family band the Corrs, and their number 1 hit ‘Runaway’ from 1996.
I then remember a year earlier Janet Jackson also released a song Runaway which was very popular. I then remember Janet’s brother Michael, and his duet with Paul McCartney on the song ‘that girl is mine’. Which moves my thoughts to the Beatles, and my favourite song of theirs ‘here comes the Sun’. But as always, i replace the words ‘the Sun’ with ‘north Melbourne’.
Which makes me think of Glenn Freeborn, and I like to imagine he is thinking of me too. Then my nipples get hard. The End

Apologies for being off-topic, but ... Glenn's three minutes of brilliance, crucial in the '96 GF - .

Always worth re-watching.

Disappointing to hear in the latest vid that Log had OP and hadn't been in regular training, Tucker had a knee injury and has just started straight line running, Corr pulled a calf over Xmas and won't train till next month, Berg still recovering from his shoulder...
Wasn't aware we had so many blokes injured, particularly in defence where we are light on.

There was no score on the scoreboard. But I'd say yellow 4.5 to Blue 3.3. Something like that.

The interesting thing for me was that they mixed up the rucks and mids, plus the forwards. So as far as I could tell, the main players were:
BLUE
Ruck: Xerri Mids: LDU, Jy, Cunners Forwards: Chom, Zurhaar Backs: BMac, Dawson, TT

YELLOW
Ruck: Goldy Mids: Phillips, Lazzaro, Greenwood Forwards: Larkey, ?? Backs: Archer, Hall, Drury

Others like Sheezel, Harvey, etc. played bits and pieces or played outside.

The ones I noticed most were:
Bergman: impressive movement, was involved a lot in link up play and didn't let Zurhaar get away easily like he might have with the fend off. Impressive. Something to work with. The ensuing kick for Zurhaar was ineffective.
Howe: can really play. Gets into good positions, kicks beautifully, is a smart footballer and is well over 190cm, so can play in multiple positions. Seemd to be a half back role though.
TT: yes, has was noticeable. During the warm up drills he was going at half speed but once the match sim started he got going. Looks like playing the half back distributor role rather than Ziebs or even Aaron Hall , who played on the opposition side.
Drury: this kid is a beauty. Wait until the practice matches. You'll see. Great kick, good runner, clean. He's AFL ready. Astonished he wasn't taken in the main draft.
Jy: looks as good as last year. Involved in everything, ran hard, contested, etc.
LDU: much the same if not moreso than Jy. Is a real leader out there. When he has it, you can hear the calls from his teammates increase. They all want to be on the receiving end of his passes.
Arch Jr: wow, this kid will make it. Just loves the contest and can mark it. Multiple intercepts. If you don't have him in your Rd 1 best 22, think again. Will have a break out year.
Cooper: did really well. Didn't look out of place at all. Involved in more than a few plays. Wasn't a spectator. Did more than Sheezel did, although the Sheez did some nice things.
Larkey: looks as good as ever. Some nice marks and a quality crumbing goal. Didn't have Chom with him (played for the other team) but still did well.
Goater: seems to have stepped up. Was involved a lot on the last line of defence. Looks to be playing a dirstibutor role. Will take kick-ins and will do well.
Goldy: looks the same as ever. How old is he? It doesn't really matter. Will have a great 2023 and then will come back next year as well.
Cunners: shades of the Ben10 of old. A bit fumbly once or twice, but when he has it, does the evasive moves as always and creates. He's back. Looks great.
Ask me about others, I'll see what I can remember. Good session to watch.
Brilliant work mate really appreciated 🍻

"Griff's going well, he ended his season with a little bit of OP (osteitis pubis) in his groin so in the off-season it was very much about trying to strip his program back and rebuild him," White said.

Anyone know why Tarryn is listed as non-contact on the training report on the club website ? i didn't hear him mentioned by Kevin White in todays injury update.

" while Tarryn Thomas (non-contact) showed class and decisiveness with the ball across half-back. "

I do want to stress… everyone looks good playing in a NMFC intraclub game. Remember when David King anointed Jack Mahoney as the new Robbie Gray on the back of one a couple of years ago? TBF, that probably said more about King than Jack.

Apparently Jack Mahoney tore it up today so....................

Isn't it nice being in a position where even our most maligned players are looking like footballers.
