Roast Travis Cloke a bad day at the office

Hard to contribute meaningfully when you get the Big Mac (tough opponent, shithouse delivery, little support and slutpires).

Could even add bad coaching to that mix as well. Trying to isolate Cloke one-out is a one-trick tactic, especially with the clueless way we move the ball...

Still not convinced that we have a game plan. Defense looked chaotic and unstructured. Lots of panik football and some players that run into team mates (Maxwell, Lumbaba)
Your backline is always going to be chaotic and unstructured when injuries are forcing it to be changed every week. we are cobbling together whatever we can back there right now

You get that when guys haven't played together at that level often.

Frost, Keefe and Langdon. Big ask for those guys. We need composed players down back. You don't get that from guys with a handful of games or less to their name. They'll only get the composure by playing these guys. We have no other options at this point but I like that Williams (fingers crossed), Seedsman, Brown or Reid will come back in. Scharenberg, I believe will become a very important player down back in time.

Sorry but for all the shit Lynch gets he is actually a pretty decent 2nd ruck.

Should have been played. Allows White to stay forward. Alas, one may as well be arguing for acquitting a Carlton player from crimes against acting...

Heath Shaw was destructive, but we have missed him heaps already. His replacement will pay dividends, but right now our defensive structures need some consistency.

This is difficult, when they are dropping like flies.

On Cloke, he had a shocker. Umpires screwed him to compound his poor performance.

I was dissapointed with how clumsy and uncoordinated the back 6 appeared, but this is a good point. You can't build an understanding, a connection with the rest of the defensive group if it's always changing.

I know he gets double teamed and Lonergan is one of the better fullbacks going around, but I thought he was abysmal tonight. There were a couple of frees he should've been awarded, but he didn't hold anything, second efforts and his possessions were really ineffective.

Sent from my Millennium Falcon using C3P0

More concerning is he made a name for working his opponents into the ground but over the last few seasons he has consistently wanted the ball bombed in long and we have little to no movement forward of centre he has become somewhat lazy and is trying to rely on strength alone.

I wrongly attributed this to mids being to slow but tonights down the ground footage often showed the whole pie forward line STAGNANT waving their hands for the ball to be bombed in!!

absolutely stupid gameplay and if that is buckleys instructions ..... well I'll be f.

Sorry for coming onto your board but I completely agree here. White is not really a good ruckman. He is much more dangerous if he is allowed to be a genuine roaming forward.

He is too soft that is the only reason why, he cops a knoc and sooks or looks for frees and puts himself out of the contest due to it.

IS soft and that is why he is not as good as he should be. Looks like Tarzan plays like Jane.

Jessie White shouldn't play ruck, get that through your thick skull Buckley

Dawes playing ruck didn't work, Lynch playing ruck didn't work, wtf makes you think White playing ruck will work?

Cloke neds support of a key another key forward and he isn't going to get that if we keep playing his support players as second rucks.

Play Witts, he needs to get some exposure at AFL level. He can also take a mark and kick a goal in the forward line and needs time to settle in our forward structures.

The obvious solution is to play two ruckman, all the top 4 teams of last year played with 2 ruckman, teams this year are even willing to play three ruckman.

I love Grundy but he needs some support in the ruck, he's only in his second year so why do you want him to be our number one ruck with no help Buckley?

Grundy looks like he can take a mark in the forward line but your not giving him the chance to if he's playing number one ruck with no support. Grundy doesn't look like someone who can float forward and kick a goal like Goldstein.

Grundy is doing a fantastic job for his age and experience but he does not have very good hands or very good read on the flight of the ball.

Hopefully in time this part of his game will dvelop but currently he is near on useless above his head in fact I am not not sure he has even taken an over head mark this year.

He's to tired to mark overhead and Playing him full time ruck won't help his ability either.

I don't expect Cloke to beat two/three defenders but he dropped a couple of sitters tonight .

Do you expect him to lead?

Do you expect him to create space due to leading?

Doyou expect other fowards to also present behind cloke (lol matty lappin fk me dead! ) into the space he leaves?

lmao why am i asking this we are the BEST brah total awesome sauce what the fk would i know keyboard warrior! flex.

Btw bud not having a crack at you just sick of people deflecting our real problems with not this players fault not or not this reason we will be better when..

From the limited chances he does get , he should produce .

Nah I think Cloke does cop a raw deal from umps and he also dos get shit service BUt he is also not leading up at the ball carrier anywhere near enough instead optng to have the ball dropped on his head relying on physical stregth. Issue is teams set up for it and when he doesn't lad none of the others are either making our HBFers and mids stagnant.

It's pretty obviously his instructions. He has barely made a lead since Bucks became coach. One of his biggest strengths used to be his hard leading. He used to run his opponent into the ground and then push him around. He's a natural CHF.

Why aren't you coaching? You seem to have all the answers....
