Give me a break. Cotchin's game wasn't even the best of the weekend.
Let me guess, it was Beams' and then cue the Adelaide supporter who says it was Dangerfield's. They were all good. Give it a rest.

Bog difference though is Cotchin spends most the game with an opposition player hanging all over him, the other 2 don't which is the advantage of playing such good sides.

Yes, it was.

Beams' game > Kennedy >>> Cotchin = Dangerfield

Doing it in a game against a top team > doing it in a game against a bottom team

Ah, the Judd defence. Everything Cotchin does is better than everyone else because he gets tagged. Beams, Dangerfield and every other top midfielder has to deal with a tag. Cotchin is not alone in that regard.

Cotchin is not the best player in the AFL. I am. Period.

Party on dude:thumbsu:

Cotchin is certainly not the best player in the AFL. He has been very good this year and is certainly in the bracket of players to fight for that title.
In my opinion Ablett the best. Saw him live a couple of weeks ago and was a standout for best player in the league. He wasn't BOG that day but certainly proved to me his is the best.

The end result should look something like this:

"Jobe Watson from Essendon is clearly the best player in the league. Cotchin clearly couldn't go with him when the Bombers knocked over the Tigers. He has a level of poise and decision making ability that Cotchin can't get close to. Clearly though, all you've seen is Richmond games, so I can see why you'd think he was the best "

You should have added just for good measure, Watsons 30 disp 2 goal, 8 mark, 4 tackle game compared to Cotchins 29 disp, 3 goal, 7 mark, 6 tackle in said game

Remember though, stats can be proven or disproven. Need to be as vague as possible for full effect.

He is currently the second best midfielder in the league behind Ablett imo. Ablett is unstoppable and if he were still at Geelong they would be premiership favourites.

Buddy is still ahead of him also for best player in the AFL but Cotchin is certainly in the top 5 at the moment.

There is also a bloke that runs around called Dane Swan who takes the piss when it comes to playing this game, he just lacks the execution that GAJ and TC provide.

Pendles, Jobe, Judd are all ridic also but they aren't quite the complete package as is the case with GAJ and TC.

Can't even say for certain he was the best player today

What game were you watching, by far the best in the Bulldogs v Richmond game, he will probably win the coaches award, certain AA and is an outsider for the Juddlo still has a lot of improvement as well, so if he isn't the best yet he will be scary good in a year or two.

I tend to agree, although head to head the Cotch came out on top, but Ablett with the lack of players around him would have to be the current best.

Patrick Dangerfield Shits on Cotchin

lol. Clearly someone is delirious... Both are guns, I don't think one "shits" over the other.

Love Dangerfield, fantastic player - similar stats to Cotchin though Cotchin edges him for average tackles and goals kicked. Not much in it at all except that Cotchin is our number 1 midfielder and doesn't have a champion like Thompson to shield him/draw some attention. Cotchin beats his tag almost every week (only 1 sub 20 touch game for the year IIRC).

Let's not forget that last year, Dangerfield was much of an enigma, playing up forward - could be brilliant, could be quiet on a week to week, quarter by quarter basis. He has definitely announced himself this year to his credit. :thumbsu:

Cotchin wouldn't be in the top 10 midfielders in the competition let alone players. What's the bet Deledio beats him to the Best and Fairest?

Pretty sure Cotch has polled in all games bar two with the coaches voting system and he's probably gonna go back-to-back with the B&F.
10 midfielders ahead of him on 2012 form? I'd love to hear this one...
As I said before I do not support the OP's decision to start this thread but your comments (and others) are Bay worthy.

Agreed on every single point you made, he's a super player. I also said (somewhere in this thread) that I thought Jobe and Boomer were very impressive in that game. Cotch was clearly BOG in our game.

it means you were judging his game by what you saw on the TV.

So what? Half the players awards going around are judged on TV footage.
