Yeah I was interested to see they had him on Tex in Lincoln. I’m sure it was a great learning experience, however it probably wasn’t great for confidence levels. Would like to see him in a role where we get the ball in his hands more on Friday.

Equally though, if Curtin is who we think he is, a one-off like that isn't going to dent his confidence. Plus, it's a high value role to settle him in on, and does seemingly reinforce our identity of being a counter-attacking team so there is a lot of pay-off if he does take.

Sounds like Tex put a dagger to that idea though.

I think if Curtin reproduces similar output to his game in Lincoln over the next two weeks, he probably hasn’t done enough to earn a spot in the team.

Does that mean he won’t get a spot. Prob not. The high draft pick credit comes into play for sure.

From the port board. Geez they are all kinds of special over there…

“The crows tend to take these matches more seriously than we do, which is the only reason why it's possible we might not win this game. Even with Marshall and Drew not playing on paper i still feel like we've got them covered pretty much all over the park. They beat us last year because they wanted it a lot more than we did and their pressure was through the roof, which turned it in to a scrappy dogfight, which is right where they wanted it. They might take this game more serious than us but i doubt their pressure is going to be at anywhere near the levels they were at in both showdowns last year. Our effort particularly in the second showdown last year was appalling”

I want to see how port line up on our forwards

If we have
Tex
Thilthorpe
Fogarty

Maybe
Tex - McKenzie
Thilthorpe - Ratugolea
Fogarty - Aliir

I think we have them covered if our mids can break even

We're back in to the Pear supporter cycle, where pre-season hopes are at an all time high after being brainwashed by the Club and their shiny new toys.

For that reason, I would be happy with either result on Friday night.

Option 1: We win, well it would be good to watch the excuses flow freely down Port Rd.

Option 2: They win, the cycle continues on to the next phase or taking out the March Premiership, before they are severely let down once again.

Genuinely torn, but am leaning towards Option 1.

Scrappy dog fight eh?

117 to 86 then 112 to 65 .. scrappy low scoring affairs they were #copium

Yeah but Curtin was put on the second best forward in the league being fed by our first choice midfield. Couldn’t ask for a much harder task. Come regular season we won’t be putting him in that position.

I imagine for the trial game Keane will get port’s first forward and Worrell and Curtin will rotate between the second key defender and loose third defender role, or something of that nature

So pressure on the ball carrier to make them turnover the ball and then excellent ball movement to score goals is "scrappy". No wonder they fail in Finals and most of their supporters don't know why lol.

If they lose it was because they didn't want to win, you see.

Just like last year where they didn't want it as much as us because it was just a trial game. Also they lost to us twice in the actual season but that was also because they didn't want to win and couldn't be bothered to make an effort.

But that aside they're better than us in every part of the ground and will win easily.

Just checked my tv guide. The match is on Fox 504 on Friday.

Beers, Pizza and Footy on Friday Night.:rainbow:

The Footy season beginning wonderfully early.:thumbsu:

Best part is the result is on the most part rather irrelevant. So no stress, hope some of the kids and game plans work out well.

I thought their reputation was based on a dog fight, poor confused souls

Anyone know what the situation is for going to this game? I assume it'll just be free entry, show up on the day? Or is there tickets for it?
