Would have been very unlucky to lose though. Better team over the game. That was definitely holding the ball at the end, we were very lucky to get away with that.

Yeah, horrible game to watch.I wish I'd watched Better Homes and Gardens. Better than 3 hours of dogshit football.
Equally if it was paid and Essendon lost they’d be saying bad kicking for goal is bad football.
The point is Adelaide we’re good enough to be close enough for that free to matter.
Sure, and it is a teetering stance due to the colossal shitness but the facts are that they were good enough to be close enough to win had the free been correctly paid.I’m not sure the bolded is quite true
We weren’t “good enough” to be close on merit, we were lucky and not through our own efforts
That said, there is something to your point about the Dons blaming their kicking if they lost.
He and Worrell will be mainstays together for the next 200 games
Ive started fishingBump: I still look back at this game when Sam did that worm dance and look at Essendon's season now. I was furious after this game, there was a lot of hidden anger in me. I still think the way they celebrated after this game destroyed their season in some ways, as well as expectations of winning a final. Same thing happened to Adelaide as well, high expectations but too much fear of themselves on the field and this led to countless panic football dominated by awful turnovers. Hopefully they will go into 2025 on a more positive and focussed mood. Look at Hawthorn for example how they have played this season.
Josh Rachelle played fairly well that night but copped heaps after his dropped marks in the 4th and late miss. Come next meeting, our season long done by the slow start, we head into Melbourne and stun the Bombers in the next meeting when Rachelle kicked the winning goal which bounces through. It was an incredibly satisfying but rather empty feeling in what has been a mostly forgetful season.
A funny twist between two sides that will be gone fishing in September.
