I reckon Silverchair straight lines wont even make top 5, the reason being a lot of triple J listeners dont actually really like the new silverchair, so i sure as hell wont be voting for them.

Once votings up its easier to make a list.

1. Silverchair - Straight Lines
2. The White Stripes - Icky Thump
3. John Butler Trio - Better Than
4. Kaiser Cheifs - Ruby
5. Kisschasy - Opinions......
6. My Chemical Romance - Teenagers
7. Kings Of Leon - On Call
8. Muscles - Ice Cream
9. Muse - Knights Of Cydonia
10. Gotye - Learnalilgivinanloving/ Operator Please - Song About Ping Pong/ Hilltop Hoods - Recapturing The Vibe
Yuck!

Bad year for music other than the Radiohead and Arcade Fire albums.

Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip - Thou Shalt Always Kill
Foo Fighters - The Pretender
Fratellis - Flathead
Muscles - Ice Cream
Kaiser Chiefs - Ruby
Kings Of Leon - On Call

Way harder than i thought it would be, I just know i left some top songs out also.

Left out a few I really wanted in there but oh well.

Radiohead - 15 Step

Just did my vote.....this year has been harder than anyother year.

SIlverchair, Powder Finger and John Butler Trio will be hard to stop but my smokies are On Call and Knights of Cydonia

My ten (in no particular order) are

Bloc Party - Hunting For Witches
Bluejuice - Vitriol
Cajun Dance Party - Amylase
Digitalism - Pogo
Foo Fighters - The Pretender
Jackson Jackson - Eliza
Kings Of Leon - On Call
Muse - Knights of Cydonia

Arctic Monkeys - Balaclava
Silversun Pickups - Lazy Eye
Kasabian - Shoot the Runner
The Fratellis - Chelsea Dagger
Bloc - Party Flux
White Stripes - Icky Thump
Smashing Pumpkins - Tarantula

On an interesting note....The Living End have had a song in every countdown since 1997, a record performance. This year they only have one song in the vote list, the cover they did of Cold Chisel's "Rising Sun". One of my alltime favourite bands and i couldnt get them into my votes. Will they miss out for the first time in a long time this year???

well my voting style is
1. Got to f and check for frenzal, none of that this year.
2. Look through entire list.
3. Dont vote for radiohead, they are aweful, dont vote for silverchair, theyve become aweful. Dont vote for anything boring like JBT or Jose Gonzales. Vote for the living end.
My top 10 has ended up beig.

Against Me! - Stop!
Against Me! - White People For Peace
Bad Religion - Heroes & Martyrs
Common (Feat. Lily Allen) - Drivin Me Wild - not usually my cup of tea at all but like this song, one of about 3 hip hop songs i like
Dropkick Murphys - The State Of Massachussets - best song of the year
Horsell Common - Good From Afar
Living End, The - Rising Sun
Rise Against - The Good Left Undone
Strung Out - Calling
Wombats, The - Let's Dance To Joy Division

of those the songs i really like are the living end one, strung out, and dropkick murpys and bad religion are two fo my favourites.

May the best song win, as long as it isnt radiohead

Informal Gluttony-Between the buried and me
White Walls-Between the Buried and me
No Pussy Blues-Grinderman
Milk Lizard-Dillinger Escape Plan
Take me to the Riot-Stars.
Hljomalind -Sigur Ros
Survivalism-NIN
Boy With A Coin-Iron& Wine
Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger-Daft Punk
Wonderlust King-Gogol Bordello

I get so into this, I predict the entire 100 for fun. It always fails so bad, last year I got 2 songs in the right spot, but my top 10 was pretty accurate. I'll post my predictions for the 100 when it's finalised, this week probably. I'm voting for

Cold War Kids - Hang Me Up To Dry (a roughie I reckon)
Foo Fighters - The Pretender
Bluejuice - Vitriol
Arctic Monkeys - Teddy Picker
Jamie T - Salvador
Jamie T - Back In The Game
Jamie T - Pacemaker
Jamie T - So Lonely Was The Ballad
Jamie T - Operation

and either Jamie T - Calm Down Dearest or Jamie T - If You Got The Money as my final vote. I haven't voted yet because I love If You Got The Money in a big way, but it's not in the shortlist. It was a single so it must therefore be inelgiable. It was on last years shortlist but it didn't make it, and then the album was released early 2007. So I dunno, because I would want to vote for it but I don't want to waste I vote. Still deciding.

It's pretty clear Jamie T was the revelation of the year for me, his album Panic Prevention one of my all time favourites.

I actually know about 25 songs on that voting list haha. I'm proud of my musical tastes :thumbsu:

I can't see Silverchair being beaten though. in past years, Powderfinger could have released a CD of fart sounds and it'd be voted #1, but they appear to have lost their lustre with JJJ listeners in recent years. Silverchair, on the other hand, still have credibility in the eyes of Indie posers

I think it's disappointing to see how commercial the count has become, although I do find it amusing in light of JJJ's repeated attempts to distance itself (usually in the form of elitism) from commercial radio

My top five prediction would be:

1. Silverchair - Straight Lines
2. Operator Please - Just a Song About Ping Pong
3. Eskimo Joe - New York
4. Kisschasy - Opinions Won't Keep You Warm at Night
5. Josh Pyke - Lines on Palms

Wildcards: Amy Winehouse - Rehab, Kanye West - Stronger, Muse - Knights of Cydonia.

and for the record, I voted for...

Amy Winehouse - Rehab
Behind Crimson Eyes - Shakedown
Eskimo Joe - New York
Gyroscope - Snakeskin
The Hot Lies - Emergency Emergency
Kanye West - Stronger
Kisschasy - Opinions Won't Keep You Warm At Night
Operator Please - Just A Song About Ping Pong
Unwritten Law - Shoulda Known Better
The Used - The Bird and The Worm

This year I voted for

Bees - Who Cares What The Question Is
Bright Eyes - Four Winds
Bumblebeez - Dr Love
Ghostface Killah - You Know I'm No Good
Grinderman - No Pussy Blues
Justice - D.A.N.C.E
M.I.A - Boyz
My Chemical Romance - Teenagers
Puscifer - Queen B
White Stripes - Icky Thump

Am going to a boozy bbq to listen to the countdown, always a good day :thumbsu:

billybrownless16 ran a tipping comp last year which added a bit of fun to it all.

Would people be interested in continuing on with it?

If so, the rules are as follows;

RULES OF THE TIPPING COMP.

- All votes have to be in by midnight January 25, they can be edited but no editing after this time

- You have to list ten songs numbered from 1 - 10 (or 10 - 1 if you want)

- The scoring system will work as follows:

You will get the same amount of points as the song's number in the countdown unless the song is in the top ten, then ten points will be subtracted from your score, or if the song is in your exact position you will get 20 points subtracted.

The lowest score will win

If one of your songs does not make the top 100 you will recieve 100 points.

Eg.
10) Sandi Thom - Punk Rocker, doesn't make top 100, so = 100 points
9) Lupe Fiasco - Daydreamin', number 22, so 22 points
8) Living End - Long Live The Weekend, number 13, so 13 points
7) Lily Allen - LDN, number 10, so minus 10 points
6) Augie March - 1 Crowded Hour, number 8, so minus 10 points
5) Hilltop Hoods - Hard Road, number 5, so minus 20 points
4) Peter, Bjorn & John - Young Folk, number 9, so minus 10 points
3) Little Birdy - Come On, number 15, so 15 points
2) Gnarls Barkley - Crazy, number 3, so minus 10 points
1) Tool - Vicarious, number 33, so 33 points

Final Score = 123 points

I hope everyone understands :thumbsu:

EDIT: I'm not sure of a couple that are either predictions or personal favourites, so if you're keen it'd be great if you could post it (the prediction) again.

Cheers.
