Here is where my votes went - of course, no particular order:

* British India - Tie Up My Hands
* Spoon - Yr Got Your Cherry Bomb
* Pigeon Detectives - I Found Out
* Martin Craft - You Are The Music
* Maximo Park - Our Velocity
* Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Satan Said Dance
* The Shins - Phantom Limb
* Regurgitator - Blood & Spunk
* 67 Special - Shot At The Sun

Looking at other people's choices, I wonder if The Wombats could sneak in for Top 20?

We can only hope!!!

I totally forgot about Regina Spector's cover of real love. Excellent track. Will go well. Good work to whoever mentioned it!!

clocks by coldplay made it two years in a row. the second time round they played a remixed version rather than the original one
Yeah but it was a remix. By a different artist. This is exactly the same song.

Does anyone know why Read My Mind by the Killers isn't on the list, and any opinions if "Don't Stop Now" or "She Called Up" by Crowded House will get in?

Good point about the killers...Woudnt have been in my votes but i didnt even realise they weren't on the list!! You can nominate a song not on the list anyway.

Doubts over crowded house.

Re: Knights of Cydonia

I will forcibly vomit into an envelope and send it to Triple J...and never listen to another Hottest 100 again, should Knights of Cydonia win.

Im interested to no why...

Its not great lyrically but its not awful. The smashing riff/solo come mid song is surley worth some votes. Good hard rock track IMHO

Entitled to your opinion and your own taste in music but id rather see this or on call by kings of leon make the top spot rather than silverchair or song about ping pong (god help us)

Snakeskin would be a more worthy winner than any of those aforementioned songs.

As for Knights...all I heard prior to my first listen was it was this epic, brilliant song lather lather lather...and I gave it a listen and it bored me to tears. It's one of the biggest wankfests of a song I've ever heard. I don't go for the big solos at all, which might explain it a little. I've seen a vid of it live and, to Muse's credit, they did perform it well. But it doesn't deserve number one IMO. Top 20 maybe, top 10 even. But please, not number one.

Arcade Fire are gonna go great guns

5 songs at least in the countdown

would love to see The National get a song in there

Silverchair #1...easily

i've already locked in straight lines to be no.1.
every year the poll attracts more and more voters, which probably means more and more people who dont usually tune in to jjj will vote and thus attract votes for the commercially popular songs. which is not to say this mightn't have been no.1 without the support of commercial radio fans, but it will be by a country mile.

Agree Wal, like... totally.

Arctic Monkeys - Brianstorm
Bloc Party - Flux
Editors - Smokers Outside The Hospital Doors
Gyroscope - Snakeskin
Hives, The - Tick Tick Boom
Interpol - The Heinrich Maneuver
Klaxons - Golden Skans
Modest Mouse - Dashboard
Silversun Pickups - Lazy Eye
Wombats, The - Let's Dance To Joy Division

Not seeing much love for Klaxons, Golden Skans was my song of the year, judging by other forum indications Gyro's and Wombats to go top 10. God i hope silverchair dont win for that pus.

Sure is.

My 10:

Angus & Julia Stone - The Beast

Decemberists - The Crane Wife
Gyroscope – Snakeskin
Kasabian - Shoot The Runner
Lupe Fiasco (Feat. Matthew Santos) – Superstar
Muse - Knights Of Cydonia
Radiohead - Weird Fishes/Arpeggi
The Shins - Australia

I still haven't listened to the new Radiohead. And i used to be such a big Radiohead guy. Maybe i need the onset of winter and inevitable depression that comes with it to get the radiohead cranking again.

Knights of Cydonia would have to be right up there from reading this thread. Good effort since it was from the start of the year.

My effort:

Queens Of The Stone Age - 3's & 7's
Jamie T - Sheila
Kasabian - Shoot the Runner
Kings Of Leon - On Call
Foo Fighters - The Pretender
Fratellis - Chelsea Dagger
Bloc Party - Waiting For The 7.18
Hives, The - Try It Again
Muse - Knights of Cydonia
Architecture In Helsinki - Hold Music
