My missus’ family is from Greek Macedonia and they’re basically 100% Turkish according to the test. Quite ironic in light of all the “Macedonia is Greece” rhetoric.

I was paying around $1.40 a litre for diesel last year. It's now $2.20, this is before the additional 22 cents gets wacked on. Not sure where the 30c a litre increase is from, his imagination probably.

O yeah... it's not that folks on Lemnos in 1912 were actually "Romans", it's that the Eastern Roman Empire became Greek speaking so the successor Turkish regimes naturally labelled Christian Greek-speakers as "Roman"... for half a millennium. In some places "identity" turns out to be a bunch of very flimsy labels we use to lie to each other and to ourselves, intentionally or otherwise. Don't even get me started on the comedy show that is today's Greek nationalist angst over perfectly compatible multiple meanings of the word "Macedonia" that are no threat to each other
