Pretty uninspiring first episode, Shamar dominated the fight but pretty much just stayed in side control the whole time, doing nothing.
TUF really seems to suffer when there isn't much heat between the coaches...

What a lacklustre first episode. There was something off about it I thought, there was pretty much zero atmosphere. Shamar's lay and pray didn't help either. He's got potential though, looks an incredible athlete.

I was really impressed by Brock. Looks like a humble guy and I think he'll make a good coach. He also doesn't look as big which was weird. Dos Santos looks like a happy kid all the time and has brough in coaches to help with his weakpoints. Much like Nogueira vs Mir, I think both coaches will be likeable and do a good job.

Really sucked for the guy who blew out his knee but I loved his outlook after the meeting with Dana.

It's great that this is on free to air. I'm always surprised whenever I catch up with friends and they tell me they've been watching UFC every week on OneHD.

In my opinion JDS is a bit weird, seems like he is too worried about communicating with the fighters.

I also predict by the end of the season I will be sick of hearing the line 'Turning chicken shit into chicken salad'.

Junior's English clearly isn't great which is why he struggles with communication but he's brought in the coaches to help with this. I think as the season goes on and he becomes more comfortable with his team and the cameras he'll become a better coach.

What time/day?

I've set the series to record on foxtel IQ :)

First episode was pretty underwhelming.

Brock seemed alright, but I have a feeling it wont be long before someone pisses him off. Dana really seems to dislike him.

JDS is quiet, but thats just his english. I think he will be a good coach. He also doesn't seem to dislike Brock at all and Brock seems to respect him (as much as Brock respects anyone I guess?)

That kid clearly didn't know how serious an ACL rupture is.... seemed to me like he thought he could stay in the house as well.

During the fight JDS and co. were yelling loads of instructions to Shamar, didn't hear too much from Brock though - maybe he gave his guy no chance?

Fights to get in to the house... .bring them back! Was a terribly flat episode to start the season and highlights of lead in fights always provide some good highlights.

Was shattered to see Jury go down with an injury. His name has come up a lot in the lead up to the series as a legit prospect, so to see him not even get a chance to show his stuff is disappointing. Hopefully he can work his way back to the big show in the next year or so.

First fight was very average as well. Bailey showed good top control, but that was against a guy who never looked capable of latching on to a sub. For a guy who talked so much about his standup prior to the fight, the German guy looked pretty average there too.

Hopefully the season picks up some steam from here on.

Brock has said himself it took a lot of convincing ($$$ I'm guessing) from Dana in order to get him to coach. Clearly just showing up for a paycheck.

First thing I thought too.

JDS just seems like a really nice guy & would be great to hang around with but you would always have in the back of your mind he could destroy you at any moment if he chose to. :D

It was interesting how focused Lesner was on fitness rather than pure skill & ability. Maybe he thinks he can train that into them in 6 weeks. ;)

It's funny how people were saying Brock would be a shit coach, but in the 2 main areas of MMA which are conditioning and wrestling (imo) you wouldn't get anyone better i wouldn't reckon. I guess what he is showing them are examples for them to follow well after the show is over.

And yeah, it's funny seeing how nice and easy going JDS is normally, then you see him in the cage and it's , scary individual.

Interesting that Dana said JDS gave up a title fight to do this. Man they must have thrown some serious cash at him to do that. Either that or he really wants to be the undisputed no.1 contender & feels he needs to go through the old champ to do so.

I also think Dana would want nothing more than to see Lesner meet Cain again as that would draw massive interest & heaps of PPV's. So Lesner winning is in the interest of the franchise short term but Cain v JDS is the fight I want to see & the winner against Bones.

Yeah not a bad call that, the question will be how long Bones will stay at LHW for. If Silva moves up that would be an obvious (and awesome!) match up. That depends on whether GSP and Silva happens of course.

Cain and JDS would be great to see, I'd give Cain the edge slightly, no idea who'd win really though. And i think JDS will beat Lesnar so we'll see that anyway. And then you'll probably have the SF heavyweights entering the UFC at some stage anyway, will add some contenders for sure. Lot of what ifs, but needless to say there are some exciting matchups ahead!

Obviously those people can't get over their hatred for Brock. Like you said, he's got fantastic wrestling credentials, cardio for days and the most important thing that you didn't mention is that he comes with great coaches. The only issue I had was with how he would relate to the fighters on a personal level and my initial impression is that that will not be an issue.

Yep, as suspected Brock was a lot more vocal in giving advice this match. Even said at the start he didn't give his guy much of a chance in the first ep.

Liked the guy who stood up after the loss saying it wasnt ok even though JDS was trying to act all cool and not worry. You can tell he wants it pretty bad so he could be around for a while.
