UFC 302: Makhachev vs Poirier

Arman is a genuine chance against that version of Islam but I’m sure he will level up again.

Dustin is a warrior.
I think Arman is a genuine chance because he is an amazing fighter, but that version of Islam didn't follow the game plan at all, spent way too long boxing with a great boxer, and in my view, got the better of him. That version of Islam is as good as it gets.

I think Illia could be the one to beat him. No one else has power like him in either division. He gets hit way more than Khabib did.
Probably the worst opinion I have heard lol

I think Gaethje was the man to beat him. But I think that loss to Holloway might be a career ender (a bit like Tony's loss to him)

Also don't like a bloke wanting to move up divisions when he has only defending his belt once v a guy in his weight class

Ridiculous. 49-46 is the absolute most credit I could give to Costa.

I know Strickland is awkward, I know his defence is excellent, but jeez that was frustrating from Costa. Test your power and chin against his, hanging back and countering was very obviously not working.
Costa sucks, most overrated fighter in ufc

Poirier went a bit better than i thought he would but it was inevitable.. will be interesting to see islam move up a division

Islam has got edwards, shavkhat and Jack there, they are all elite level and it feels like edwards is just holding on to that belt until he fights either shavkhat or even jack (who probably needs to beat one more high level guy)

They hit a lot harder in the next weight division and Islam’s standup whilst not terrible he can get caught, if he gets them to the ground who knows he probably wins

Justin is clearly a level below. Love the brawler in him, but he's never even beaten an ex champ and has been finished every time he's fought one.

Damn, thought this was still a while away. Very pleasant surprise!

Makhachev vs. Poirier - Islam's confidence in his striking, which is very good but not on Poirier's level, is the only thing giving me some pause. Still, have to hugely favour Islam to continue the dominance.
Strickland vs. Costa - Bit hopeful here, but I thought we saw a glimpse of the pre-Izzy Costa in the Whittaker fight, and his go-forward style does actually match up well against Strickland.
Holland vs. Oleksiejczuk - Holland should win this comfortably.
Almeida vs. Romanov - Romanov looked like a stud before the Tybura fight, hasn't looked great since, including the latest win. He's a legit HW and a top wrestler though, so will be interesting to see if Almeida can physically dominate him like he does to everyone else.
Brown vs. Zaleski - Really tough one here, both have impressed of late.
Kopylov vs. Almeida - I think the odds are wrong here. Kopylov has a grappling background, but has show little interest in using it in the his MMA career thus far. Almeida has gone the distance with Poatan 3 times in KB, and won one those fights, so standing with him isn't going to end well.
Dawson vs. Solecki
Rowe vs. Matthews - Definitely a winnable fight for Jake.
Price vs. Morono
Gall vs. Hafez
Edwards vs. Perez
Lima
vs. Raposo
A couple of glaring mistakes here. Kopylov fought the smart fight he needed to, which I for some reason didn't expect, and go-forward Costa was no where to be seen.

Bit of a snore-fest until the main event honestly.

Illias beaten one former champ and it was on the back of him fighting way too soon after a short notice KO.

To even pretend Illia has close to the same resume is bizarre and to pretend he would instantly go up and have the same power or better than some of the current crop of Light weights it's also bizarre

"Sucks" is a bit .harsh imo, ask Whittaker if he thinks he sucks, that was a really close one. I haven't seen Strickland v Costa yet mind.

I hope Leon Edwards defends, I'm happy to see him fight Islam, would be a cracker.

Islam striking is pretty underrated. He feints, changes levels, counters well. He knows what he's doing...

I think he cuts too much weight which kills his cardio a bit which then can't wrestle/spam TD's like he probably should. I'd like to see him move up and fight a top 5 guy to test that theory. Only Arman left to beat at LW now

Also had staph, so was likely on pretty heavy antibiotics. His tank isn't on Khabib's level, but he looked noticeably less energised right from the start. Also likely prevented him from kicking, which is actually a decent weapon for him.

Edit: Obviously kicking is a weapon, I'd wiped the second Volk fight from memory I guess.

I was surprised he didn't go for the head kick more so you might be right, it's not like he had to worry about being taken down. I did notice Poirier drop the hands a bit, felt like he was open for it.
