Why had no one put me on to Black Mirror before now? I've got a lot of catching up to do.

Has anyone watched Dirk Gently on Netflix? As a Douglas Adams fan, I'm a bit concerned what they've done to it.

Unfortunately it's only 13 episodes so far. Would recommend not binge watching it. Give a bit of time to reflect on each episode.

I watched it and enjoyed it, quite quirky as you'd expect. Not as familiar with the source material though so no idea if they butchered it

Fundamentally different from the source material beyond the most basic concept, but a similar sense of embraced ridiculousness. I've only watched the first episode but it was fun.

Should I give it another chance? The first 2 episodes felt rather stilted... I did enjoy that dinner party they had with whatshisface and his wife

The stiltedness adds to the fish out of water comedy for me, but I can definitely see how it would put someone off.

Have heard Iron Fist is getting some bad reviews, but i'm enjoying it.
Pacing seems a bit off, and the fight choreography has nothing on Daredevil. I'm only 5 episodes in but a lot of appeal for me in the rest of the Defenders series has been a compelling villain. Fisk, Killgrave and Cottonmouth were all great and so far we've got nothing

Think this is the problem though, it is compared to the others. I enjoyed Daredevil fight scenes more too, but that makes Daredevil special so i wouldnt like them to just rip that.

Maybe they needed to do iron fist earlier, as it feels like we are ready for defenders and now we are removed from the combined story line a bit. Iron Fist is heavily involved with the Hand which is the big bad for the defenders, so im sure they wil use this series to flesh the hand out a bit more as well. Iron fist will miss its own big bad like Fisk, focusing more on just setting up the iron fist character and the hand to be the big bad for defenders.

Still, im liking the casting and acting, and im not finding it overly boring or anything.

The fight choreography is decent, it's just showing a bit that the actors aren't accomplished martial artists and they could be filmed better to hide some shakey form. The first two episodes were pretty poor and slow but I think it has been on an upward trend after that. Hopefully the traditional marvel netflix lull was at the beginning of the series and not in the back half. I'm up to episode 8 and it has picked up a lot of steam. And as much as I'm a raging lefty I can excuse the cultural appropriation because Danny wasn't a "chosen one" white saviour, he actually had to earn the right to be Iron Fist and used his feelings of being an outsider as a motivation. That he subsequently loses acceptance in his home culture because of it also makes him caught between two worlds. It's not like he steals a culture and has no repercussions.

Daredevil's fight choreography gets by because it's done in a damn stairwell.

Shame about the OTT acting.

Have only watched first ep of Iron Fist - thought it looks promising if it gets things right.

Season 1 Hallway fight though... so much more than Season 2 stairwell :p

Interesting about the acting, I'm finding Danny "Literally Shakes With Rage" Rand a bit harder to watch but to each his own

I've only seen one ep - but I've seen all of Daredevil (for some reason). I found the cat who plays the lead role in that show trying to do the Christian Bale 'whispering angry comic man' thing way too much. Also the script has become absolutely horrendous. I'm out for next season I think - which is a shame, it promised so much.

Yeah Season 2 with the Hand/Elektra I didn't enjoy, Punisher side story was alright. Definitely slowing down but I reckon they're building towards the Defenders series with all this Hand stuff.

Have you seen Jessica Jones and Luke Cage?

I thought that hallway scene in season 1 was Awesome. It hooked me in.
Even my wife enjoyed that one, and that is saying something.
