Need a Greece win and then for France to do such a solid for us in November by playing the reserves. Greece ahead of the Netherlands by 3 points but it won’t be nearly enough if the scores stay like this. Netherlands have 2 games left (Ireland, Gibraltar) and Greece have one game left (France). Netherlands lead the first tiebreaker against Greece (3-0 first match win) and will win the second tiebreaker (superior goal difference in matches played between the sides).

Not even a Greece win over France would be enough (Netherlands would still win the group on goal difference if they win their final 2 games and Greece beat France), if Greece don’t also beat Netherlands tonight.

Well yeah, Greece are done.
Playoffs file, Greece are qualified through the Nations League and as things stand would be playing Kazakhstan in the semi-final and Georgia-Luxembourg is the other semi.

Also for the above conversation, head to head is the first tiebreaker in Euro qualifying. Netherlands owns the H2H over Greece, they would have to go winless in their last 2 vs Ireland and Gibraltar coupled with a Greek win against the French for direct qualification.

Obviously not happening, so onto the playoffs we go!

Of course I totally forget about the NL route. See, some things UEFA do can be beneficial. 😂

Where would the semi be played for NL? Kazakhstan away not a great place to play for you guys to travel.

Unless the venue changes (if they are the opponents), it will be in Astana where Kazakhstan play all their home fixtures.

Greece will host the semi-final, due to the fact they are ranked 2nd in League C of the Nations league. So no road trip to Kazakhstan.

You can see full NL ranking from all the leagues here, it helps complete the playoff picture.

I am not doing well today lol. I was sure it would be home and away.

The Belgium v Sweden game was abandoned at half-time with the score at 1-1. My understanding is that at around 19:00 local time an Arabic speaking man shot and killed two people who were wearing shirts of the Swedish national team. It occured about 5km from the King Baudouin Stadium where the game was being played. The game started at 20:45. Police declared it a terrorist incident and cordoned off nearby roads. But it seems the decision to abandon the game was instigated by the Swedish players rather than by security concerns. It's uncertain if the game will be replayed.

Game should not have gone ahead with the killer at large.

What happened in Belgium was horrific. It's one thing to ensure tight security at stadiums, but sadly, it seems the city centres where fans gather becomes the next target, and it's so hard to protect everything, all at once. I know that the risk at any given game is in fact extremely low, but stuff like this gives me pause about going to football matches, especially international fixtures.

Kalvin Phillips starting an important qualifier despite barely playing all year. He's already got an early yellow, close to getting a red. Southgate has lost it. He's not even that good hence why Kovacic has come in front of him.

I may or may not have sworn when I realised Maguire was on the ball.
