Woah episode 4 this dude is crazy. Gillian Anderson cool as a cucumber. Lord Bolton's had a big week!

Bolts...treacherous characters it is.

OMG...the last 10 minutes were edge of your seat shit.

But if you were boyfriend...wouldn't you think to get help from out in the street before going up the stairs...dunno, shit awful position to be put in, truly awful.

And only one Ep to go?!

awesome thanks dude!

I liked the ending. I'll put this in spoilers just in case.

In an American tv show they probably would have built it up in a similar way but ended with something like....Stella returning to her hotel room and being taken from behind. The ending is good IMO because it doesn't have a sense of immediacy about it (even though the girl has awoken from her coma). He's moving (in the literal sense) away from the area of the crimes and investigation whilst Stella and co (even though they have some information) are still looking for answers and gather evidence.

The Killing was so frustrating because we didn't know who the killer was and there were multiple possible characters who could have been the killer. I think this is somewhat different.

The one thing I do agree on is that I want more now. Anderson's small role in Hannibal will have to suffice for now :D

Ah, watched the season end of The Fall.

Gripping, gripping episode but gotta say, I'm left a trifle unsatisifed. Or waiting.

Liked the season but was disappointed with the final episode a bit. The momentum ran out a bit for me during the middle portion. Still a top show and would recommend. Like the Killing the secondary plot has been a bit tedious.

On viewing the final episode and thinking back over the season, it really feels like it was 'written out' because a second season was on the cards. I mean, and you're right, the secondary plot only got resolved in the most perfunctory way, if at all.

Actually I take that back about the Killing. It wasn't so much the secondary plot (which was actually kinda good and linked) but rather the elongated way it was handled. The way the first season ended was a bit of a punch in the mouth to fans and the second season meandered a bit. I wasn't as offended as other people were and still enjoyed the show but when I look back on it I don't remember many memorable moments like other shows.
I guess with this show there's is more of a divide between the two plots. Where the police corruption/organised crime/ big wig's son (potential suspect) angle while pumped up in earlier episodes and working quite well as another angle looks a bit weak now in the series finale. Particularly when you get rid of a couple interesting characters belonging to this angle.
When shows get a second season it can be a bit of a double edged sword I feel. I think maybe if they stayed the path on the Gillian Anderson versus killer angle while letting Belfast be Belfast it would have been a more efficient storyline.
Still pretty pumped I got to watch this show and now i'm onto a new one called Orphan Black which is Canadian I believe. So sort of filling the time in between waiting for Breaking Bad.
British shows are great these days. Really really looking forward to Luther's return as well.

I hear ya.

What I meant by 'writing out' was not resolving stuff 'cause they could draw it out into another series.

You had a look at Top of the lake yet? That's great.

I loved the finale (and the whole season for that matter), although that may be because I thought it was the penultimate of the season until I read this thread. The phone call between stella and spector had me on the edge of my seat, loved his face when he realised they knew a little more about him than he realised.

To me one of the major differences between this and The Killing is that we know who the killer is, so see things from his side throughout the story. He is also a serial killer so it's not 20 episodes looking for the guy who killed one girl, with every second episode throwing up a new red herring about who is guilty. This killer is going to do it again if he doesn't get caught, which makes for a more tense viewing (for me).

There's not too many of them I wouldn't watch, generally they buy and sell American cop shows.

The Fall

Good to hear its got a 2nd Season...five eps is such a dismal number.

I feared for his family that whole 5 Eps.

There is enough join the dots to suggest that there is every likelihood he will be caught...so it will be interesting to see if S02 picks up from where it left off or whether or not it is a new storyline.

It is. I liked the script structure. The counter-play between the two characters who never meet. And you're right it really lead to some tense and original scenes/dynamics.
