Hi guys, i'm sure most western bulldogs supporters would dig deep and throw money to the kennel to hear one of our senior personnel come out and just give it to the umpiring establishment after Friday night. I know Rocket eluded to "a pivotal free kick" and other things going agaisnt us, but i'm sure we would love to hear what they really think. Why in this day and age can players and coached get criticised and yet the umpires are protected species.

Also anyone hear from Smorgo? I know he was at home for Jewish new year, but strange i have not heard a single thing from him.

What will that do! Nothing is going to change! Criticising the umpires will only end up in a big fine! The media have been criticising the umpires all week just like they do to players! Get over it!!!!

It speaks volumes that so many people independant of the Club have spoken publicly about the appalling treatment of the bulldogs by the umpires on Friday night. Smorgon and the bulldogs are right to maintain a dignified silence.

The level of criticism has been unprecedented.

The AFL wheeled out Patrick Keane to defend a few decisions....itself a sign of their concern. His silence on the more indefensible decisions....like the one against Hargreaves in the first quarter, was a lot more revealing than anything he actually said.

Hopefully over the summer and away from the spotlight, the AFL will recognise and deal with the depth of the problem it now has with this aspect of the game.

The umpires are not a 17th team. They are not entitled to inject themselves onto the game like Royce Hart jumping in front of a pack. But they are now coached to believe they are elite sportsmen entitled to their share of the limelight, the kudos and even their own tribute sports cards.

The dogs are the first major casualty of this. But if it doesn't change, they won't be the last.

Over to you Andrew.....

And what good will it do?

Do you think they will write it down in a book and give us a couple of game changing frees back?

There is nothing to be gained from it other than possible fines.

Everyone knows the umpires stuffed up.

Wouldn't change anything so why bother, the media have brought enough attention and McInnerney umpired himself out of a grand final with McBurney the only one from our game getting a nod in grand final.

Great way you put it - cotcase. So true that the umpires are now coached to believe they are elite sportsmen entitled to their share of the limelight above the game, the kudos and even their own tribute sports cards. I shake my head.

I just hate where the game has gone, every contest a free kick with shit house umpiring.

I agree, I enjoy the game so much less these days than when i was a teenager watching it. At least back then players had to earn kicks.

Fair enough by everyone and good call by Cotcase. I guess all the excitement of GF week and all this stuff about the best 2 teams being in there and no mention of how stiff we are got me depressed :( Didn't know they had named the GF umpires, that is probably the best criticism that can be levelled at that ump anyway missing out on a gig. Thanks
