This is when you need Ron The Bear (RIP). Free kick diff = league points. Maybe squiggle has posted something.

swap ours with a middle one and we'd be top 4 even without big sexy

As in we get about 3 frees better each week. Maybe a goal a game, or so. Could make a difference.

But Big Sexy is very very sexy.

do you mean free kicks against resulting in direct scores? that would be incredible data. we need to make it happen! maybe swamp on twitter is our man.

Maybe scores. I know there’s a turnover stat but maybe frees to scores (direct and indirect) and a win % would be good

Ooohhh YEAH!!! We are on the way up. In a decade we too might be where the Dogs are right now.

At some point this will change. And we will freak out when we don't get smashed week in week out by the umps.

And maybe the rules will not be changed each year, month, week, day. And maybe the rules might even be clear and consistent.

Even 2017 was a crap year umpiring towards us? When did it start don’t recall then or before.

Even 2017 was a crap year umpiring towards us? When did it start don’t recall then or before.
Things were actually looking up from 2012-2015 as we started making finals, before dropping off a cliff. Our free kick differential including finals is:

2012: +30
2013: +5
2014: +7
2015: +72
2016: -17
2017: -59
2018: -122
2019: -29
2020: -70
2021: -85
2022: -81
2023: -60

Since 2017 we are -506 free kicks. Pies over that same time period are +370 and the Dogs are +388.

That's completely absurd. And it can't be the way we play because 2021 and 2023 we haven't been good and we're still very negative. Then there's taking into account the analysis a Tigers supporter did on twitter that showed that every team when they play Richmond infringes significantly less than when they play other teams.

Some more entertaining historical free kick stats:
  • West Coast 2023 were -29 in overall free kick differential. The last time they had a negative differential was 2001.
  • The Bulldogs at -2 finally broke their run of 9 consecutive seasons of positive differential.
  • Unless something insane happens in finals, Collingwood will finish with a positive differential this year. In the past 24 seasons, they've only finished negative 4 times. In the same span, the Tigers have finished negative 14 times. Gold Coast have finished negative 10 times since their 2011 inception and GWS likely 9 times since their 2012 inception.
  • Tigers are now 8 seasons in a row with negative differential. That's the equal longest streak since 2000 and only matched by GWS 2013-2020.

So 2016 onwards really plus the ones on Twitter, very alarming.

Honestly some of you idiots need to chillax and watch netflix, just because the umpiring differentials shift dramatically doesn't mean the umpires hate us. These results were 100% predictable & always will be when the rule committee changes the rules to deweaponize your gameplan.

Angus Brayshaw's brother says AFL wants the Pies to win the flag. It's happening, it's real. We are not nuts. Everyone can now see it!!
