Clever thinking with the quick free kick. Martinelli played that beautifully.

Had a feeling as Saka was holding the ball that he wouldn’t take the kick itself.

Odegaard slots it home.

Yeah is he even injured? Big loss if he goes despite him bieng rash at times, he was great when paired with Willy.

I was prepared to accept the tactical omission last weekend. But here again, surely no coincidence with the rumours lurking. Maybe thus is just until the window closes.

He’s on now at least.

Selhurst Park always worries me, so really glad for the three points. Tomi getting a red and Ayew staying on is the problem here. Apply the rules to everyone.

Control of the game until the red, then I thought we defended really well. Eze could've received a penalty as not, and that play highlights my concern with Partey as an inverted right back. if Zinchenko is back, we might revert back to the White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko back four, which releases Partey into the middle again.

Eddie - almost brilliant, which I fear will be the story of his career.

Rice was great. Havertz will get grief, but there are little things in his game that I like and hopefully develop as the season goes on.

Odegaard on penalties. Good for FPL.

Selhurst early season with imperfect squad chemistry is always going to pose a challenge.

Last half-hour was tough. Eze & Ayew posed serious attacking threats - one of the more satisfying clean sheets. Previous seasons we concede late there. Latter Wenger seasons we let in 2 goals, lose, and in doing so augment the coffers of opportunistic 'fan' channels.

Tomiyasu horribly unlucky to be sent off. Havertz wasted more time on that throw-in chain, and Tomi was evidentially the unlucky one to be cautioned. Unfortunately the second yellow looked incriminating to the eye, but couldn't be rightfully overturned on VAR as it wasn't a straight red.

Plenty of work to be done, and Arteta will undoubtedly be on their backs at Colney this week.

Also, 10 days until the transfer window shuts. Rumblings surrounding Gabriel's future persist. His time on the periphery so far this season has to carry some meaning - should we receive an offer exceeding ~60m and the player is in fact amenable to Saudi, I can imagine we'll consider the viability of upgrading.

Harsh does not come remotely close to describe Tommy’s send off. You’d challenge that.

Not sure you can as it wasn't a straight red, unless they have changed that rule.

The second yellow was particularly galling given Ayew's challenge on Saka went unpunished.

I don’t what if any recourse Arsenal has with that Tomiyasu decision, perhaps even to see if his 1 match suspension can be overturned. It’s worth pursuing. That was a poor decision especially on the balance of Ayew escaping any sanction.

Nice to hear Arteta decisive about Gabriel post match. It’d be ridiculous of Arsenal to sell. He’s essential to plans, even more so with Timber injured and especially this late in the window. Supposedly representatives from Saudi met with his agents today, hopefully can just quash these rumours soon and then refocus once the window has closed.

Rice excellent today. Very impressive. Nketiah should’ve had a goal to his name however was key to the match winning goal. Such great options to have on the bench, obviously the red card thwarted our plans and Trossard would’ve featured otherwise. However Jorginho brought calmness onto the pitch, Zinchenko and Kiwior helped close it out.

An excellent three points to bank. The more I see this season unfold the more it underlines the importance of winning points from City. Cannot keep conceding 6 points to them every season and hope to win the title. Gotta get something off them in the head to head clashes this time.

Just an aside - why the frog would you ruin Peter Drury's commentary by teaming him up with Andros Townsend?

Like many, I’m a fan of Drury. Which is why I struggled to believe his **** up after Nketiah hit the post. The way he talked down Nketiah was bizarre, saying he hasn’t scored in the PL since the winner against United in January at The Emirates.

Eddie scored Arsenal’s opener last weekend. It was strange stuff.

Good to get the 3 points, and nice to get the Selhurst trip out of the way early again. We're not at full capacity yet, but grinding out the points is important.

Tomi's red was a joke. Held the ball for 8 seconds for the first yellow. Absolutely no other team will get a yellow for something like that.
