It's not a low precedent. I'm really surprised about what they are getting for Polec, at least according to what has been mentioned in the media. He has shown almost nothing at AFL level.

Injury hasn't helped his case but yeah, I am a little surprised too. I think there is a bit of a Showdown effect taking place. Homesick high draft pick wants to go back to SA. Crows and Port want to look like the club everyone wants to go to.

It will be a low precedent compared to what they want for polec/longer. Agree Re. Polec, If we're slightly unhappy with how our trade period has gone then i get the feeling that port adelaide fans might be lining up along a cliff with what they will potentially give for polec

We are entering a new era where slow developing players from interstate are seeking an easy path into the AFL via a trade back home. It's happened to us as well. In Polec's case I think its an instance of over-drafting as much as lack of development. He has an outside game and when he tested poorly I thought he would struggle to translate his game to the highest level. I still remember Polec's first preseason game where he kicked a goal and Denis slammed the Eagles for not taking him. Funny how times change :)

Perhaps it not 28 or 31, but a later pick and player that is on the table and we always wanted two late 2nd rounders before the draft quality petered out?

11, 28, 31, Yeo and Ellis plus Smith backdoored.

Please make it happen as Brissy need to improve on their quota of tatooed metrosexuals who consider the postion of their hair more important than their position on the ground.

If Vozzo can convince someone to take that crab I will build a statue of him outside Subi.

Has anyone considered Brisbane don't plan on trading any of these players and are stringing the clubs along waiting for the trade period to expire?

Then when it does, try to convince them to re-sign, otherwise face the uncertain prospect of heading to the ND/PSD.

Yeo has already stated he won't leave unless Brisbane get an equitable deal, so maybe they are banking on him staying, if they can show they tried, but didn't get the deal done.

Bit of a stretch I know, but Brisbane are yet to complete a single trade with two days left.

That's far too big a risk. If they all leave and they get no draft picks when all of the players they have on offer are worth 20-40 picks.

Instead of replacing the guys with possible talent, they end up getting probable mugs at pick 110

Maybe it is, maybe it isn't.

Both Longer and Yeo have made statements along the lines of they will stay, if a deal can't be done.

Brisbane are in a desperate situation, with 5 players on the table. Maybe Kerr has just decided to take the risk, because he believes the assurances he has may be enough to keep at least 3+ of the players and it sends a huge message to other clubs and the playing group.

Why has the deal been held up?

Over a week ago, Vozzo stated a deal was done. Then the situation changed and we did the pick 6 trade, but no movement at all this week. In fact Brisbane seem to have put the breaks on every single trade.

Pfft, grow up.

I think the deal is done, it is just a bit complicated (maybe a 3 or 4 way) so there are some other parts that are getting worked out around the edges. Just reading into some of the tweets from yesterday...

They offered Smith to Carlton for Bootsma and they said no, so I think the only way Smith will go is if he's delisted

"West Coast and the Lions say they have agreed that the Lions will receive pick 28 for Elliott Yeo, the youngster whom many rate as the best-performed of the departing out-of-contract players at Brisbane, though there could also be a late pick added to complete the transaction."

Just negotiating whether lions also provide pick 99 or 117..
I would have thought we would be the one adding a late pick...

Brisbane will have a bucket load of picks in the top 40 by the time the weeks out and i imagine we will only use 3 selections so Im struggling to work out what either side will do with a "late" pick

Yeah, I would have thought neither of us will use a late pick, so I don't really get it. Unless they're hoping to trade up a bit. Or we are.

I'm pretty sure Yeo and Polec have both been pretty strong on going home and have come across as being prepared to go into the PSD

Brisbane would be ****ing those players over if they refused to deal, particularly Yeo for whom there has been a reasonable offer. I'd be inclined to walk if I were him. Then again I think players like Longer, Docherty, Karnezis, Yeo and Polec are total pussies and perhaps Brisbane are the ones hard done by.
