I don't think so personally.

Don't like the setup of that backline. A bit of a height imbalance. Who takes the smalls?

I think WC would be recruiting Yeo with the intention of developing him into a wingman. I guess I'm starting to see why WC would be interested in him after the retirement of Embley, the uncertainty of Rosa and the form Sheppard showed during 2013. We aren't exactly stocked with talented wingmen. Even if Yeo doesn't excite me as much as he does others.

I expect Yeo to have to earn his place through East Perth. Sheed on the other hand I can definitely see WC pumping alot of games into from day one.

Waters, Hurn and Yeo.

Yeo chopped up Steve Motlop twice this year, is more than capable of handling the smalls.

Reckon we have a plethora of talented wingers: Wellers, Gaff, Cripps, Dalziell, and think Schofield would make a great wingman. Think the interest in YoYo is might be thinking of playing him as a midfielder?

One thing I will say for Yeo is that I believe he could have genuine utility. He's a very strong mark overhead. Versatility is becoming an increasingly important asset over time.

Hurn lacks pace and has a pretty average turning circle. He wouldn't take genuine smalls. Both he and Waters would also often cop the opposition defensive forward.

That backline also lacks a second genuine KPD and someone would need to make way for a Brown or McInnes. Who would it be?

I personally would still prefer a genuine small defender, at least as a rotation.

It wouldn't be my preferred backline either TBH. I think McInnes will be better than Brown long term.

Wellingham is an onballer primarily.
Schofield hasn't really been played there with any real intention of developing him as a wingman.
Cripps played 2013 as a defensive small forward and has a long way to go.
Dalziell is a very limited player and shouldn't be in long term plans.

I'm thinking a strong marking, genuine wingman such as the player that Embley was.

I didn't mean to miss the point and pick apart his opinion (even though I so totally just did), more that I don't think Yeo walks into our backline which is what he was asking.

Agree on McInnes, I think he's a hugely excited KPP prospect.

Good examples of players who were more physically developed and athletic at a younger level that made them seem better players than they really were.

Edit: Almost similar to that kid taken before NicNat....

Mitch looked like a gun in the making as a CHF pre knee injury. It cost him a lot of mobility/speed.

That's kind of the point, he wasn't "in the making" as much as most other first year players. Look at the physical state Brown was in when drafted to say Notte/Lycett/McInnes.

Then there is the matter of how good the rest of the team was in 2007 too.

I don't doubt injures have hindered him, but we don't look too much (if at all) worse without his name in the side.

Given that Brisbane need players over picks, is there a player trade we could work out which would satisfy both parties reasonably well?

I think he'll be a great pick up. If we got him, and assuming no Kerr, here's how I could see us lining up next year:

Carter Mackenzie Glass
Hurn Schofield Waters
Yeo Wellingham Gaff
Masten Darling Hill
LeCras Kennedy Cox

Naitanui Selwood Shuey

Rosa Priddis Cripps
Sheed

What?! So Martin and Yarran in the WAFL??

we have enough trouble finding out where to play one Schofield let alone two.

Sounds like he's faster though which means he might be more capable of locking down our opponent's small forwards. This is something we do need pretty badly. And if his skills are good enough to fairly reliably get the ball out of our D50 to a safe option then I think he's actually exactly the kind of player we most need aside from a midfielder.

It'd depend on finding a player willing to shift to Brisbane. No-one on our list really stands out as a possibility. Maybe a three-way trade would work, with us sending a pick to someone and them sending a player to Brissie.

HBF or wing are the roles he would likely fill at wce. He would be a good pickup assuming we get him for a 3rd rounder, but wouldn't want to give up our 2nd rounder for him tbh.

I think we are overestimating the ability of Fraser McIness here... Mitch Brown has much better agility, strength and speed both closing and on the lead, I think we are all guilty of comparing Brown to Mackenzie however just like Spangher before Brown we chose to invest game time and positional development in Eric over the others. Brown is a very good option at CHB, I think we will see this as the need for him to stand up consistently when Glass leaves becomes real, he will feel the need to own his position as every other player in a succession role does.

McIness does not excite me at all, not very agile and doesn't dominate small backlines in the WAFL like a Hogan in the VFL, not sure if he has kicked more than two goals in the last half of the season actually, strikes me as an Ashley Hansen type.

Yeo is shorter than Schofield and naturally attacks the game, that is something that would be lost to our team if we gave him a small forward lockdown role, give that to the carter's and the Mcginnity's of the team.

Finally, Lets just hold onto picks 6 and 24 and get good young players in Sheed and Hartung with those picks.

A cleanout of our sports science and conditioning staff may also help, 3 seasons in a row is beyond absurd, pay for the best available and keep our players on the park.
